Re: Horse racing and other things equine
TB racing in avirginia might be cancelled this year. I am not sure of the details, and I know it isn't for the horses' sake, but it will put a HUGE dent in the ability of the industry to take off in the state. It also means bad things for the farms, animals, and workers. Let's hope the racetrack will still be open for evacuation during hurricane season.

That doesn't sound good. You're right it will take a terrible toll on everybody.

Especially if it means folks with horses have nowhere to go in a hurricane evacuation. I remember when you had to go there not too long ago.

Here's an explanation of the situation. Sounds ugly. It's unfortunate. Colonial Downs is really a nice track. It's sad that Virginia is pretty dedicated to ruining horse industries state wide. They are also not doing well by the Virginia Horse Center.

I see they took the foal cam off already. I wanted to see the little guy run around some more. He is soooo precious!

I saw in the New York Times today that Dr. Charles Fager died. If have followed horse racing for many years as I have the name will be familiar. Dr. Fager was a very famous racehorse, he was named for the neurosurgeon that saved his trainer John Nerud's life.

The doctor himself died. Dr. Charles Fager, the horse, had four titles in 1968. Sad to hear that the doctor died. The story of how he saved Nerud's life is pretty amazing. WEAR YOUR HELMETS, RIDERS!!!

We recorded it since we were in the car. Great race even if the favorite won. I'm glad they had great weather and footing for once.

That's good. I hate to see tracks fall by the wayside.

Awww! I love watching how they lead a younger Boone. I've taught youngsters to lead on a halter. There's some fun! (If you like running like a maniac.)

I got another update in my email: they were checking out his heart murmur. When they were done Boone didn't want them to leave.

Re: Horse racing and other things equine
Back to no racing. The track has made an offer to start another Thoroughbred association since the current association seems determined to drive away business and put people out of work. Ugh.

A great race today. I would like it if we had a Triple Crown winner. Belmont is such a LONG race. Rest up, CC.

It was a great race. The Belmont should be very interesting. It's not only about the ability of the horse but also the rider.

Re: Horse racing and other things equine
Did anyone hear the kerfuffle about the nose strip? How silly! NY now says they're okay. I guess they want a Triple Crown winner as much as the rest of us do.
