Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
okay, you know I don't have a TV so I do most of my watching on DVDs. I'm going to watch season 1 disc one of Downton Abbey, Try for at least 2 episodes before I fall asleep. LOL. At least since I watch the DVD's in bed I won't fall asleep on thecouch.
On Saturday, while I was at the laundry (where I go to do some beading after the library, they leave you alone ,it's well lit and they have TVs going... anyway they had on A&E anjd I caught several episodes of storage wars. I can become addicted to that show. I actually LIKE this type of show, as opposed to Jersey Shore and Mob Wives, because you can actually learn things. It's got that antiques Roadshow mystique. You never know what you are going to find in those storage units. I just found out that you can watch some episodes on the computer. I bookmarked it and maybe I'll watch an ep before I go home tonight.

It's dated 1992. Based on plays according to the box. So far so good though.Sue Short wrote:

Tonight is Star Trek night, followed by Svengoolie intro (that's all I can stay awake for). I love Saturdays!
I have a pal who LOVES storage wars, and he is NOT the reality TV crap kinda guy. I might have to check that out.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
disapointingly they were showing cartoon network at the laundromat, then a pledge drive for ST Judes, though i did get to see an episode of CSI.
I checked with my library but they do not have any discs of Storage Wars. I've got to see if the New York library has them and order them
I did order a copy of Dirtiest JObs vol 6. They have a section on Fenton Art Galss of which I am a collector. I always wanted to go to the fenton works and am so disappointed that they have ceased production after over 100 years in business.
I watched the first two episoded of Downton Abbey (disc 1) and LOVED it. can't wait for disc two and three. I turned them in in watched as I wanted to see it from the beginning so have ahd to reorder them and been put on a hold list again. Sigh.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
We watch Storage Wars here and there. Wes likes it better than I do, but it's kind of fun. It irritates me a little that they want to undermine each other, but what can you do? There's one guy, Dave, who bids by yelling YUUUUUPPP! and even my jazz radio station DJ was immitating him the other day.
Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
Sorry you're back on hold for the next Downton's, LK, but so glad you decided to start at the beginning. I know I'm repeating myself, but it's good enough to be worth the wait to see it in sequence.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
I'm waiting with baited breath. it looks like disc 3 will precede disk 2 soI may have to reorder that as well, although the last time, though #3 was ahead of #2 when I ordered them they ended up coming in at the same time.
BC, i watched 2 episodes of Storage wars on line last night . I understand their mindset, about underbidding though. it is an auction and they want to get the best buy they can. its a business for most of them. I can't stand Dave. he seems like a really malicious guy , especially towards Jarrod and will bid just to drive the price up.
One of the episodes i saw last week was a storage unit I would have loved to bid on myself as if was obviously used by someone with a jewelry making/selling business and there was all kinds of stones and beads and display units. Jarrod was interested in it because there was a safe in there, so naturally Dave outbid him so he wouldn't get it, even though he realy wasn't interested in the jewelry or displays. as it turned out there was $2500 in cash in the safe. I would have been satisfied with the jewelry making stuff. LOl

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
watched Dirtiest Jobs with Mike Rowe compilation #6, a bunch of episodes, including one on Fenton Art Glass which I particularly wanted to see. I collect Fenton Glass and love the glass making process. I've always wanted to go to Fenton and take the tour. Unfortunately they have just closed down the art glass business after over 105 years. It was a little depressing realizing that the people on the show were mostly now out of jobs, some of them working there for 40 years or more.

And from the shows I've seen I thought the EXACT same way you did about Dave - but about Jarrod & his nasty wife. Those are the two that I see most often driving up the bid on other people. See? They all do it, and I find that distasteful.
Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
yeah, they all seem to bid up sometimes, even barry, but dave is the worst.

CSI and I'm going to be on a road trip so I may miss Harry's Law on Sunday. If somebody records on DVD
would they mind sending it to me after they watch it.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
Forgot to mention Big Bang Theory - watched it last nite - ALMOST thought that Penny/Leonard was bombing out AGAIN! - in the end, Penny says sex is FUN, just don't talk about MARRIAGE! Hmmmmm.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
I think they have to tread lightly enough even with Bernadette & Howard, much less Penny & Leonard. Pairing them up too permanently may spell doom for a sitcom. It's kind of like when they introduce a baby or a child - you know the show's in trouble when you see that happen.
Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
Or when Fonzie tries jumping over a car ---- just mentioning THAT in case anybody else remembers!

I think you mean 'jumping the shark".

Ha! Yeah, that's the phrase, Jumping the Shark, which put the final kibosh on Happy Days. But surely I remember an episode where the Fonz jumped cars, too? No matter. Any time a show resorts to theatrics rather than meaningful character interaction, you can pretty much write it off.
I don't watch BBT ( ) but it's common practice to introduce marriage proposals, new lovers, possible babies, problematic relatives, job changes, etc. Keeps the juice flowing. Just don't look for quick resolutions! Plot devices like that are meant to carry the show forward over time, not get tucked away in half an hour.

Caught Grimm. This has really been a good but quirky series.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
I never watched Happy Days or Laverne & Shirley. Tonight I will watch Svengoolie because he's showing Creature from the Black Lagoon. Good stuff.
Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
Ha! That IS a good one. You know I love Saturday nights because MeTV shows Star Trek, and I'll have to stick around as long as I can stay awake (beyond the mandatory Sven intro) for a swampy taste of that.
