maybe kitty
Today, when I got to work, I heard a meow as I went in the door. I looked, and there was a little tabby torte kitty. She rubbed on my legs and talked to me. So, I leaned down and gave her some petting. She ate that up. She let me pick her up, so I carried her up to my office. ()
Unfortunately, I had nothing to feed her, so she ate some chicken from chicken noodle soup. A friend gave her some turkey from a sandwich. She did like the fresh water.
She spent all morning sitting on my lap and sleeping right in front of my keyboard. She was very social and very quiet.
The saddest thing is that I was taking her to the car, a car close to us started up, and she panicked. She ran out of my arms and disappeared. The good news is that people have seen her around the building for weeks, and have been feeding her, so I doubt she will go far. I bought a carrier so it will be easier to get her to safety next time. I am going to bring some canned food and treats to tempt her to come back.
I think she could come here and be a barn cat. I hope she can come inside, but we will see how the boys treat her in the barn before we make that big leap.
Keep your fingers crossed that she comes back.

Re: maybe kitty
She's back! The nice ladies in the lawyer office downstairs caught her. They fed her, and gave her a toy. I went with the carrier, and now she's back in the office. She didn't like the carrier (very cat of her), so she's sleeping on my desk and occasionally mushing on my leg. She seems sleepy.
I will call the spay/neuter vet to get her checked out and fixed if she isn't already. Rumor has it that she had kittens a little while ago, so it's definitely surgery time.
I'm so happy she's safe now.

That's great Becky. Hopefully Da Boyz won't be silly buggers about it all. Will she be safe in the barn, I think you mentioned coyotes in the area at one point.

Re: maybe kitty
Maybe Kitty went home with a friend whose older cat is not doing so well. They said they were going to get a new kitty when the time came, and she fell in love with Maybe.
Here is Maybe hanging out waiting to go to her new home.

She is a real beauty. Sounds like she was also dumped months ago, maybe already pregnant? I hope she either stays with your friend or you. She seems like such a sweet cuddle kitty from your description of her behavior in the office.

Re: maybe kitty
My friend just called. Maybe (soon to be Scully) went to the vet this morning. All looks good. She has NOT had kittens, so we think maybe she is one of the litter that was rescued last month. There was one the people couldn't catch. Everything seems good now. She's been snuggling on her new mom and dad, and her new brother kitty couldn't care much less about getting a sister. Success!

Re: maybe kitty
I saw a FB update and some pictures. She looks very happy. She has a kitty smile and a full bowl in one picture. It's been a while since she had enough to eat. My friend says she pigs down all her soft food whenever she gets it. She also goes through 2 crunchy bowls every day. I'm going to bring some cans that the boys here didn't like so much. It's really good food, they just like their usual kind better.

That's great to hear Becky. It will take some time for her to get over her food insecurities. Whole Foods were giving out some samples of a store brand they are carrying. I haven't offered to Antonio yet.

Scully? Is that her new name?
I'm glad she settled in so quickly....and that she's doing so well. Wish I could see the pics on facebook......

Scully. My friend's other kitty is Mulder. It's the X Files in their house.

Re: maybe kitty
Poor little girl has worms. It's not hard to treat, but that probably explains why she's skinny and eating so much. Hopefully, things will be alright, and she'll start to gain weight from all the food she's packing away.

Re: maybe kitty
I'm sure she will after the worms are gone. Good Luck getting the meds in her after she starts feeling better! I have a feeling that's when the typical tortitude will start in.

Re: maybe kitty
Her meds are in a liquid that mixes in with her soft food. Apparently, she doesn't care. She only needs two treatments. One yesterday, and then another in a couple weeks. I'll bet it's Strongid. Yesterday's treatment gets the active worms, and the one in two weeks gets the ones that hatch out after.

Sounds like it. though it sounds more like an equine wormer.

Re: maybe kitty
Strongid is actually used quite a bit for kitties. It's just a different strength. Kinda like ivermectin for dog heart worms and horse bots.

My parents and I know all about tortitude, but then we have a tortoiseshell. I hope her true personality will start to come out after the worms are gone.

Scully has begun to play all the time and try to get her older brother to play too. He is unamused, but no longer frightened.
