Feral for life
The colony at the corner seems to be making a comeback. The family who lives there has 2 black cats, and I've seen a big tom who looks like GK, and a couple skittish females. Not sure if the family will be alright with a little TNR operation. Next time I see them, I'll ask.

That's good know. If you feed them, fix them.

I don't feed them, but if it helps to catch them, I will start.

It will help. If you can get them on a routine, then I said maybe within a week maybe little more should be able to catch them.

Re: Feral for life
Routine will be the challenge. But, so far, I see only one tom. Maybe I can lure him down here, which will make things easier. Then again, if he has a harem...

Do you think the family would be willing to help?

I will ask next time I see them. They are usually out when I'm walking Bingo, so I have to keep an eye out for their car in the driveway. I'm sure they wouldn't mind. I might need to provide the food because they don't have a lot of extra money, but that's ok. I can do that.

Worth a shot. And the food, well Petsmart always has some type of Purina on sale.

Re: Feral for life
I'm sure the family will let you TNR if you explain that the kitties would be coming back after being snipped. You can only care for so many before your budget breaks (and sometimes your heart).
Teddy must think he's part hobbit.....just like Bijoux does. Only it's not second breakfast, it's second dinner.

He's a funny old soul. Actually he's not looking so old since he was snipped.

Re: Feral for life
Well this is a revolting development . There is a new cat at one of the away colonies. My money says the cat is female and pregnant. To add insult to injury, the woman who would normally trap has broken both her ankles. While I have a trap, and the funds, I have no transport and no place to stash her before and after.

Thank you, I'll sort something out. To add to the fun and games new tom showed up here today. I've heard rumors of him now I have confirmation. At first I thought he was neutered because his ears are so tattered. Then I got a look at the plumbing. Serious hueveos.

Well to be sure now. A new black cat showed up at the backdoor looking for a meal. I can't tell if his ears are notched are torn by fighting. He's looking a little rough but not too shabby. I'll just have to keep an eye out.

I hear you. The Torbie, henceforth this cat shall be known as the Torbie. Was at the Boys and Girls Club, she came flying when my van pulled in. The black cat that has been there for years was waiting for me.

Sounds like Torbie might have been a pet at some point. How cute is the black cat. Does he/she have a name?

I don't know she seems pretty wild. Pretty cute, there are snaps in the album Rodent Patrol on FB. No name yet, haven't seen him since yesterday.

Haven't seen him since the 12th. Haven't seen Teddy in some time either. I will ask my neighbor if she's seen him.

Re: Feral for life
I talked with the people on the corner. Their black kitties (rescued from the feral colony as kittens) are neutered and prefer to live under the house. So, we're on the lookout for the one big tabby tom who has been seen in the field across the street. I just hope our other neighbor didn't decide to shoot him. That's his method of feral colony control.

A pox on the neighbor. I had a new guy show up here. Big old tuxedo tom, green eyes and a knocked down ear. Teddy was here last night. Looked good.

Re: Feral for life
Sue, I won't tell you what I'd like to do to that neighbor of yours...............grrrrrr...........
Glad to hear Teddy put in an appearance, he had us worried. Seems like the cat population in Dallas is exploding! So many new kitties....where are they all coming from?
