Rodent Patrol Part II
It's been a long time since I've visited this topic and decided to start a new thread.
Of the original group there is but one left. As sad as it is, it is the nature of a feral life. Now on to some interesting and happier news.
A very handsome steel grey cat showed up some time ago. Started calling him Bruiser, cause he was a bruiser. He hung around for awhile then reappeared ear tipped and much calmer. Sport is still here and still hissing. Then there is Stub, so named because he is missing about a third of his tail.
This is now where it gets interesting. Bruiser has always been somewhat friendly always running up to, under your feet, same with Stub. Well Bruiser decided to come in for dinner Sunday night. Monday he came in for lunch and stayed for the post lunch nap on the Giant Cat Bed next to my head. Monday night he brought friends to dinner, Sport and Stub. tonight he came for an early supper and hung around and napped on the Giant Cat Bed. He's also got a rusty hinge voice. Did I mention the slightly crossed green eyes.

I'm so glad he found you! It sounds like he might have been a pet before, but no matter what he has adopted you. You might as well just give up. Send pix when you can get some.

Re: Rodent Patrol Part II
It will be a while before there will snaps. I don't want to spook him. He just went back out, he stayed in while I went to feed the away groups. I've noticed that he gets restless after he's been in for a while. the other two stopped by but didn't come in. As to being a pet, I think you may be right. I'm thinking about renaming him, I've given thought to Boris but that reminds me of Boris Johnson and that will never do. Bert might do.

That they are. Haven't seen them so far today. I'm sure they will show up soon.

Re: Rodent Patrol Part II
All of my former feral kitties have been restless when they were in for too long. But, once they started getting older, they wanted to be inside a lot more. GK even decided that outside was over. He settled into being a house cat. Of course, he was ancient when he decided that and lived for 3 more years.
Good luck with the pet-ifying.

Last night Stub showed up first and came into have a nibble right as I was leaving to feed the away groups. Bud, the cat formerly known as Bruiser, came in for a short time ate well. He started to become restless and very vocal so I let him back out. He decided to spend the night outside. Haven't seen anyone today.

GK liked to be outside at night until he was very old. Once he broke his leg (at age 14), he decided that being inside at night wasn't bad. He insisted on going out at least a few times until he was 17. Sounds like Bud is completely normal.

Jack was at least a year old he showed up here as a stray. He basically walked into the house and never begged to be let outside at night. He did bolt out on us one time and he refused to let us catch him. Jack spent that night outside and he let us pick him up the next morning to bring him in. Other times he managed to get out, he stayed on the porch.

Little Black Cat, the cat formerly known as Stub spent the night inside. It wasn't really planned due to lateness of hour it's how it worked out. I've the back door open for a while now, hopefully she's has left the building. Bud decided to sleep rough again. Haven't seen anybody all morning.

They are so funny. I think they know they're welcome with you and feel comfortable but not committed. They'll probably start feeling more dedicated soon though. Steady food and a soft bed tend to be good things in the kitty (and people) world.

Bud showed up last night for dinner and stayed the night. He even snuggled up next to me on the couch, he slept on the Giant Cat Bed and even makes sure he gets a section of the warm blanket. LBC(Little Black Cat) decided to eat al fresco and spend the night rough which is good.

He's made himself at home for sure. He woke me at around five to go out. Returned a little after eight tonight right now he's snacked and being affectionate. LBC aka Stub is lurking about. She really needs a better name, Sport can stay Sport. Maybe Mouski and Winnie can think of something. Tia Sue

That sounds good. I thought about Patch since I thought I saw a white patch on her chest.

Patch it's going to be. They're funny, they show up in the evening for dinner, some hang time and then go sleep rough. Go figure.

Maybe your yard has a beacon you don't know about, but the cats do.
