what's a 'bot'?

i see that rignt now Sue and I are on here and a "bot" from Google is on here.
I don't know what that BOT is and why its here..is it a good thing or should we be wary of it????

They're everywhere on the internet. I feel sorta lucky that we don't have more of them on a free board. I think we're as safe here as anywhere else on the 'net. I looked at the settings here and saw nothing that would let me block them, but I'll keep an eye on the situation.

I didn't know about bots before. Maybe it's here because we have the potential for chats?

No, there are bots on boards that I go to without the chat option too. There are bots everywhere.

i was just worrying that they were in here collecting information and putting it around.as long as it doesn't collect information and email addresses etc its fine. i just have this paranoia about people from corporations digging into every word i write.

How about the government poking it's nose everywhere? Or potential employers? Or scammers? Those scare me.............some can misinterpret what we post.
