Dark Knight Rises

They are filming here in Pittsburgh for 3 weeks (end of July/beginning of August) and they are going to need 2000+ extras. They did a casting call last weekend and 5000+ people showed up. They are casting again this weekend. Pretty crazy!!!

Sounds like it. I hope this one is better than the last.

I didn't think the last one was bad, just the hype over Heath Ledger got on my nerves after a while.

I went down on Sunday to fill out the paperwork---I do hope they call! I'm waiting for One For The Money to come out in January (it was originally due to come out in July of this year) so I can see if I made the cut, lol!

i'm with mags on the last Batman movie...but i never tried to watch it..i've seen it as i've flipped past but i don't think i could watch more than a few minutes of it. i don't even know much about this new one. but i hope you get in there, mags;) always nice to be able to say "i know somebody in that movie'. the kid upstairs and andrea got into that movie with Jay Lo and whatshisname that Kevin Smith did. they didn't do any sort of casting call. it was more a 'my son is in such bad health this is his biggest wish blahblahblah'.
kevin smith is a really nice guy (though the closest i ever got to him was when he nearly tripped over mags and me at Javits with the Star Wars body guards....right Mags?)

That picture of Kevin Smith being escorted by Stormtroopers is a favorite memory! I have to see about the Flea Market, I may just come in for the day---I'd like to make it to the Con this year!

too bad we didn't have phones with cameras in them back then...we coulda got some pics! (hmm....i wonder where you could write Kevin..i bet he'd get a kick out of that little story:) ).
it would be cool if you could come in for the day for B'way Cares....i miss Juniors. i'd even be happy to go there just to have a nice sundae;)

It's a possibility, but they still haven't announced the date yet!

i know i checked on it months ago but that had to be waaayyy too early. let us know when you find out the date....i'll have to put in for that weekend off ahead of time. or at least that Sun and Mon off.

I see that kevin Smith and the other guy from jay and silent bob (do I have that right? ) are doing a show at Comic con this year. It's a separate ticket from the regular comic con ticket

yeah,its a podcast thing....i can quarantee ya the kid (kid? in his mid to late 20s?)will be there. i'm sure kevin is pretty approachable but not at the con...at least not any more. wayyyy too many geek guys there now;)

i'm wondering if Jim Parsons will be at B'way Cares...i don't know if the show he's in is a limited run or if it will run until its over ...or he might have to go back to CA to make more Big Bangs;)

The run for Jim Parsons play is until July 10th---he'll be back in CA filming new BBT by then...

esh...oh well,if i were really gung ho i'd go hang out behind the theater. but i'm not that info him;)

Bill Amend (Foxtrot) is going to be in Artists Alley!

oh, Cool beans. I usually don't go to artists alley, but now that the con is 4 days, and Bill Ahmend will be there I've got to meet hi. I love Fox Trot. and mourned when he stopped the strip.

i swear i used to read that strip...is it the one with the mom,dad,brother and sister and the brother had a lizard pet (and was into StarTrek)?


by the way, there's a new con in the Chicago area(I think its chicago area) that is just starting and its run by fans..looks so good i wish i were closer! here's the info.... http://www.cyphan.com/cyphan/CYPHAN_HOME.html there's a doctor who con that is set up and run by fans that is in the east coast (CA) and is one of those things that if i were rich i'd love to go and experience!(Its not super expensive...not like San Diego CC but with flight, room, trans between the airport and hotel etc i'm sure it would cost me 6 months pay!)

I was trying to see who was actually putting on the con as i have a bunch of friends and acquantances in the Chi area who used to put on fan cons. I used to help put on fan cons myself, both with and without guests. (The con I go to in Michigan every year is an non guest con.

In the "old days" when we put on a con with guests it never used to cost extra to have apgoto taken with the guest, or get an autograph (unless you bought the photo to be autographed. Times have changed. Gone are the days when the guests were content to appear for the cost of their fare and hotel, meals and perhaps a small stipend. Now they are all demanding salaries, and sometime quite expensive, or payment for the autographs, photoes

yeah i wonder how they do it at NYCC...whether the con brings them in and pays them (and that's why it costs so much to get in) or whether the celebs pay for the booth and then get paid by selling their stuff. the only people i know who work the autograph things are small time folks who just have their tables not the people who are in the special authograph areas.
i don't know how they do it at the Doctor Who con in CA.but its small, in a hotel but is a lot of fun and looks like a lot of fun!
the NY Who group does little things during the year...some are free (viewings of the shows and old shows) but some you pay for like when one of the old companions or somebody comes in and does a discussion at this pub. i doubt i'll ever go cuz there are very few people i'd be interested enough to pay money to see. and i'm not a bar person so that sort of puts me off...i don't know..i'd have to really think about it if i were to go.

I will be doing a stadium scene (not paid, but great prizes!) for the new movie---it's filming Aug 6. I won't hear about anything else for at least a week...

prizes like in a drawing or do they give you sort of a gift bag for your work? (I was in a commercial once and got a 'lovely' tshirt. ....gawd...i don't even know where it is!).hopefully you'd get something cool:)

Some of the prizes are Steelers team sets from certain years (1989, etc)---aming the lesser prizes. One of the prizes is a 52" tv, and another is airfare, hotel, etc for the American premiere and afterparty of the movie. I'll keep you posted, since the shoot is in 2 weeks! And they still may call me for regular extra work!
