I actually saw and heard Josef faerman last week when i was coming home from dinner with my friends. He was singing on the shuttle between grand central and Times square. He was very good.

as for Lorenzo LaRoc, who is also mentioned. The man is astounding. I've been a fan of his for years and have one of his CDs. I think he has played with Sheena Easton.

There is a program in the NYC subways where every year certain entertainers and groups are chosen and licensed to busk in the subways (La Roc is one) They did a TY series on them last year, I think. The girl who starred in Precious'mother is also one of these performers.
There are also lots of other buskers ëntertaining"on the trains and the platforms, some good, some awful.

That is so cool LK. The only street performers I've seen in Dallas are at the
Farmers Market. There is someone down there near one of the sheds, I really should
check him out.

the news was talking about the people who are performing above ground this week (I think its just for the week...more than just a day)but didn't say anything about the subway.
i remember the guy who had all the toys playing instruments with him in the subway that one year...he was really interesting.

That guy with the toys is (or was ) a regular at the Times Square station. He was pretty old so I don't know if he's still around.

There used to be a russian guy on the train who played the violin. He was wonderful. Not as enthusiastic or wild as Lorenzo, but wonderful in his own way.

I think they are doing a special street musicians thing in manhattan this week which is what you probably saw on the news
