fright night...then and now....

i know there are other horror flick fans in here and have been wondering if people remember the old movie Fright Night. Well, not THAT old when you consider things like Frankenstein and Dracula;) it was a movie that came out when i was in HS i think. Roddy McDowell, vampires...i think its where i learned that a vampire can't come into your house unless you invite it in.
There's a new one about to come out (i think mid month) and i've been watching some preview clips of it (or should i say drooling over the clips?).
does anyone remember the original and/or plan on seeing the new one?

I remember the original version, I've seen it several times. Funny in spots and McDowell was good as the vampire hunter.

It wouldn't have anything to do with a certain Doctor playing the Roddy McDowall role, would it?

i actually watched the end of the old one today...if i had known it was going to be on this afternoon i think i would have come straight from work. in the original roddy plays a horror movie host.....now i know why they had the change the part in the new one to a criss angel type magician. don't think the kiddies today would know what a horror movie host was!

I read 5differnt reviews and they seemed to get better as I went along. All of them seemed to say Davis was channeling Russel brand, but they also all liked him
I'm not a bigt horror fan so will not go out of my way to see it.

probably because they're both skinny british dude with dark hair. i haven't seen a lot, but i've seen a couple scenes David's in and some snippets and he's more cris angel than russell brand...but then again. i like russell too. (I really should see if the library has his version of Arthur...i wanted to see that when it came out).
