WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
So far we don't have any plans beyond passing out freebie dinner to folks in my mom's building, and Santa Paws deliveries late Christmas Eve. My sis didn't go to see grandpa but so far no plans have been hinted at for us to join in.........and nobody has decorated this year for it. None of us feel christmasy. Brad most likely won't be home for Christmas either, so that's another thing putting a damper on our getting into the spirit this year. They even stopped playing the christmas music downtown here, that used to help put me in the mood in the past few years.
And I won't have internet access after Friday morning.......until the following Tuesday morning for both Christms and New Years. I'll be going through some major internet withdrawal for sure!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
Our Christmas will be quiet, with my mom and brother joining us. My other brother lives out in California, and I only have a couple of cousins in the area anymore, so that's the way it goes. We never had a really big family, and Wesley's brother and sisters are all down south, so we're kind of used to a low-key affair. I'm grateful to still have Mom around to celebrate with us. She turned 92 last month, and is in really good shape - other than her hearing. I have to do a lot of yelling these days! It should be a nice time even with the yelling.
Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
sleeping. watching some Doctor Who dvds i've been saving....don't know what the food will be. folks upstairs don't do much special for christmas dinner if they do christmas dinner. (I was raised that you had a bitg turkey dinner for thanksgiving AND christmas!...you had ham for new years;) ) Bbut upstairs they tend to think turkey once is enough.
i need to remember to buy a can of cranberries and a tv dinner so i'll have something .

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
My sister and her five kids are coming on Christmas Eve but they will only be staying a few hours. On the actual Christmas Day it will be just us and I will be making ravioli and meatball dinner. The meatballs will be made the night before by my Dad. My other out of state sister and her twins will be in a few days after Christmas.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
We have an Orphans dinner on Christmas Eve and then several of us go to one of
the local Chinesse places on Christmas Day, sometimes we run movies on the big
screen in the guest house.
I know what you mean Fif, for some reason I've had a hard time getting into this
year.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
I'm so grateful my folks are still with us, and we'll do family Christmas Day at my brother's house. It's very low-key and comfortable, just opening presents and eating and lounging around. Other than that I have several days off and plan to relax, read, watch movies and take on chores very much on a need-to-do basis!

I'm glad my mom is still around, if not for her and Bijoux I'd have no one to spend Christmas with.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
I got a nice surprise for Christmas this morning: my grandpa called. He sounds like he's feeling so much better, even went dancing last night. Had to sit a few out, but he felt good enough to do some anyway. We talked for a long time too, which was nice.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
We are spending time at my parents' house. Very casual and fun. This is the first year that the whole family has been able to gather. We are going to have a wonderful standing rib roast and maybe walk the doggies around the neighborhood. The doggies, of course, are going to share in the feast, so they will need to walk as much as we do.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
sue you sound like you're having a Jewish christmas....only that's usually chinese on christmas eve and a movie on christmas day:)
i'm spending the day with the Doctor. (think the weather is changing cuz i've started to get one of those 'i think its the sinuses' headaches)....
think i'll break out the pencils and draw up my holidays card and load in pics i've taken over the last month. ...have some of salem in his cone and cage, some of Cartier and some of the little scene i created last night here on the desk.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
you know I always hear about Jewish people eating Chinese food on Christmas, but I've never actually known one that did. LOL
This Jewish girl had roast pork and zucchini latkes. (and noodle pudding)

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
The freebie Christmas dinners were passed out Christmas eve to the folks in my mom's building that had nowhere to go for the holiday. Mom and I sneaked out late that night to play Santa Paws. My mom, Bijoux, and I had turkey thighs with stuffing, cranberries, mashed sweet potatoes with real butter, and an apple dessert pizza for dessert on Christmas Day. Very quiet holiday, just watched movies on dvd snuggling with Bij.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
oh lk i know a whole family that does....i was part of a few of their traditions when i lived in the south.
here christmas 'dinner' was sweet and sour chicken on white rice...not even the good chinese meal you'd get it you went out....just a bowl with white rice on the bottom and some sweet and sour chicken dumped on top. THAT was christmas dinner. i can't remember what christmas eve was...but the day after christmas i got what was left over from somebody else's chinses christmas dinner i think. it was too spicy and had seeds on it so i ate very little of it.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
i really want to get a little ham for new years eve...but i can't find any....i thought they were on sale this week but i think it was a couple weeks ago. esh! been looking for trader joe's egg nog too but they' ve either always been out or only had the low fat version. figure if nothing else i'll get a bag of chips and make some onion dip (this is the time of year when i make the real stuff with sour cream and lipton's french onion soup mix!)...i have Vernors that i won in an FB contest awhile back and that will be my 'champagne'

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
We have some sparkling grape juice in the pantry, I'll have to remind mom to put that in the fridge to get cold for New Year's Eve. I never could quite acquire the taste for champagne.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
I used to have a party at mu house every year since I hate actually going out somewhere, but as the group I partied with dissipated I just became a stay at home.
I'll probably fall asleep on the couch anyway. LOL

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
I don't go out much anymore either for New Years.......just doesn't appeal to me anymore. It's hard to stay up until midnight, yet when I was younger it was soooo easy to stay up to that and then some. Lord, it's hard getting older.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR CHRISTMAS?
Thought I'd resurrect this topic.......and wish everyone here a Merry Christmas. Since the library will be closed until Wednesday I'll be going through some major Mutts withdrawal!
Not planning much beyond spending time with Bijoux. No invite from my sis yet despite my nephew coming for a few days to visit from Oregon. We'll see if I get to see him or not (I sure hope so!).
