Animal welfare Empty Animal welfare

Post by Suzzzz Sat Jul 03, 2010 10:30 pm

Not sure if I should post this here or not. It's a story of incredible heroism by a stray dog in Chile who came to the aid of his friend. The video itself is harrowing but beautiful. The implications are disturbing, to say the least, and there's no happy ending. Despite what the vid announcer says, everything I've read (and there's not much information out there) says the dog that was hit died and no one has been able to find his rescuer. My only hope is that he didn't die in vain. If this vid makes the internet rounds, it may help spur changes in how people and governments think about and deal with their animal populations. With all we've done and are doing here in America (and we still have a long way to go), at least we seem to be trying. The global problem of dismissal and indifference to animal welfare is heartbreaking.

Well, I'm going to post it. It's not new; you may have already seen it. For the faint of heart, don't watch.

i don't think i'm going to watch it cuz i know how upset i can get. but it wouldn't happen to be the one where the dog was hit by a car and another dog came to help it? (I've seen that one)

That's the one, Jeane. Like I said, it's not new, just new to me. It happened, and it's a beautiful thing to witness, but utterly heartbreaking all the same.

okay...well, its not a really disturbing video to watch. (i did watch it without sound so that might have helped since i didn't have the narration).
i wonder how different it might have been if it were here in the US?
