THE HUMMIES ARE HERE! FINALLY!
Brad and several neighbors reported seeing hummies last Friday. I saw one myself at Brad's hummie feeder Saturday..........very fast lil guy. Mom hung up a hummie feeder too, hoping to attract more to both feeders this summer.

I bought a couple of red flowers in hanging baskets yesterday, and I'll put the hummie feeder out there tonight! Hope to see them soon!

Feeder is going out tomorrow. If they're up near you, Fiff, they MUST be here. They're just not really active yet.

I put the feeder out on the 14th. I've seen no evidence yet, but I'm sure they'll find it soon. The red verbena I placed it next to is very pretty and I know they like red flowers!

Ours are here. We put out the feeders and nothing. This weekend I saw one. Today, the females were having battles over the feeder. The crowds are arriving.

Patience..........all I've seen so far (and that's not many) are males. The girls will arrive soon and then the fun will really begin at the feeder.

Like I posted on the "agenda" thread, I bought a hanging basket of bright petunias to see if I could attract some visitors. Got it home and hung up this evening. Now I will follow Fif's advice and be patient. If they're buzzing around Becky's place, they should be in the air around here, too. I'll let you know!

Any sightings? Ours are positively swarming. I'm going through a bottle of "juice" every other day. When the babies fledge, we'll be filling every day. This is the first year I haven't put out flowers, but the birds don't seem to mind. They're waiting for the crepe myrtle trees to bloom I think. That's where they nest so they can be closer to the yummy pink blooms. I wonder if we have any in the volunteer tree. It blooms white.

All I've seen so far is the one hummie, but it comes everyday to Bij's hummie feeder. Mom is making a 3-to-1 sugar solution for the feeder. I know it's sweeter than the commercial stuff everyone else puts out, probably why that hummie likes ours so well. Bij really likes watching that hummie, she perches when she eats, but then hovers to another port to eat some more. She repeats this several times before leaving, only to come back about a 1/2 hour later.

No sightings here, but then, I don't feed them. I know myself, and I'll never keep up the regimen so I don't start. The petunias I bought are now mostly over and what's left is sparse and leggy. *sigh* I'm not good at this. The birds are pretty much on their own around here. Still, I usually see one or two hummies every year. Looking forward to that.

Now we have two hummies coming to Bij's hummie feeder. Mom makes a 3-1 sugar solution that is a bit sweeter than the commercial stuff everyone else is using around here. I figure the hummies prefer the sweeter stuff. All's fair in birds and war, right?
