Anybody here remember this movie starring Al Pacino?
yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the real life event portrayed in the movie. Pacino played a guy who held up a bank in order to get money to pay for his boy friend's sex change operation. He took 12 hostages . This was the "birth" of NYC police hostage negotiation.
Well, I just found out that the bank which was robbed is actually only 13 blocks from where I live! Of course it was before I lived there and the bank is now empty.
I'm going to have to rent the movie

Do rent the movie. Aside from any historical or cultural influence it may have had, it's a gripping drama of oh so human interactions -- courage and frailty of all kinds, on all sides. I wish I could watch it with you then walk down and see the bank.

I saw the movie when it was out originally, but I want to see it again. I'll see if I can take some pics of the bank and figure out how to get them on here

That would be fascinating. I may have to rent it again, too. It's been a long time.
