poem about older kitties

Got this from Sue, who wanted to be sure it got posted in here. It's pretty good IMHO. It brings tears to my eyes.


What Do You See? [ A Poem of Bast]

What do you see when you look into my eyes?
Do you envision my life from days gone by?

I am an old cat; the damp hurts my bones.
When I was no longer safe; you gave me a home.

What am I trying to say when I look at you and meow?
Can you understand what I'm saying? Do you know how?

My memory is failing and I wander at times.
But I know in my heart, you will always be mine.

Will you be with me when I say goodbye?
Will you be strong or will you cry?

My nights are long and my days are few.
I cherish the time I spend with you.

Our paths have crossed in a world so vast.
I am lucky to be so loved and cared for at last.

surgery today and is doing wel..

Glad to hear she's doing well after surgery. That poem reminds me of so many sweet kitties I've met at the animal shelter.
