Litte hoarder kitten

I thought I posted this story, but I don't see it, so here goes. If this is a repeat, I'm sure someone can delete one.

I picked up this little gal from a hoarder house yesterday. The daughter of the homeowners is trying to get the house ready to sell. The folks there had the house full of junk and cats. I was there with another volunteer yesterday to assess the cats. They are surprisingly healthy and friendly, and most of them have been "fixed" and vaccinated. They can come and go from the house, which is filthy, but at least they have some shelter and plenty to eat (although I had to run home and get them some water, as they had none). We got the only kitten to run into a carrier that I brought, so I have her here now. She's used to people, but not to being handled. She lets me pet her, and I was able to vaccinate her, but she's still not what I would call friendly. If anyone has name suggestions, I'd be happy to entertain them. An Irish name might be appropriate.

How about the name Colleen?

Approrate for the day. After all it's not only St. Patrick's Day but the feast day of St. Gertrude.
So she's double lucky.

Colleen sounds great. (The title should read Little)

I don't know, the nickname is kind of ick.

Kevin likes Colleen, so we'll probably go with that for her. She purred today when I was cleaning out her ears (she has earmites--yuck!). I had to use the topical drops I have, since it's Sunday. I think I'll try to track down some Revolution for her, though.

We planned for Colleen to go to the petfair tomorrow, but she started gakking like crazy yesterday. She's still at it this morning, and she's off her food as well now. It's probably just a furball, but better safe than sorry. She can go another time.

Now that Colleen's a bit older I noticed she looks a LOT like my sis' rescue cat Moxie in the face (she's also a siamese mix). Moxie has stripes on her sides, spots on her belly, and a dark stripe down her back though. Voice is a lot like a siamese. What's Colleen's voice sound like?

Today is Hairball Awareness Day BTW....maybe she was just celebrating the day?

It sure was and Colleen wasn't the only one who celebrated it for real.

On Friday, I took Colleen up to Look What the Cat Brought In on our way up to Greeley to see my niece's college graduation. They took her for her blood tests yesterday, and the vet tech who drew her blood is adopting her today.

Just seeing this for the first time, and SOOO glad you re-posted it, gbste. And, over the moon that I found out about Colleen just in time for the happy ending to her story!!
