Glad she has such good balance, otherwise you both could've been hurt. Very glad the shot made her feel better too (what was in it-just curious).

It's called Legend. It's hyaluronic sulfate. I had to learn to give IV injections so I could save the $50 farm call fee from the vet. The vial of 5 doses is $500. YIKES! I give it about every 3 or 4 months since I just can't afford more often.

Re: Everyone is home
You might only need to give it in the spring and fall...when the weather is a lot more changeable. I can tell you that's when my arthritis kicks into high gear.
Hyaluronic sulfate.....that's inside our eyes, joints, and acts like glue for our skin to stick to our muscles. I thought it sounded familiar.

Re: Everyone is home
Envoy was BAD today. At lunch, I got a call from my neighbor. The UPS guy knocked on her door to ask who the horse belongs to. Apparently, Envoy was walking down the shoulder of the road. The nice UPS guy with help from Animal Control got him into another pasture. The Animal Control guy called to say everything seemed ok, but I could call back if I had questions.
When I was cleaning his stall, I saw that Envoy had begun the day by pooping in his water bucket. YUCK!!! Not the way I wanted to start the week.

Naughty Pony!!!
HOW did he get out of the pasture at home? And why was he walking down the road.....looking for a clean bucket of water perhaps?

Re: Everyone is home
We have a lot of old fence that is back in the trees. Some of it was weak enough that it would have been easy to take down. We found some that had broken. Horses are creatures that will take any opportunity to eat the grass on the other side of the fence.
Fortunately, the outside water was clean. Envoy left his present for me inside. Ack!

ACK is right. And no Envoy the grass is not greener on the other side.

I can think of better presents........
Envoy should know the grass is best at home. The other side of the fence is pure hype.

Well... At this time of year, the grass really IS greener outside the pasture. Horses walking on dying grass makes for some brown, dry stuff to nibble. I'm so not ready to start putting out hay.

He could've waited until you got home to take him out. He could nibble his way down the block, then get ridden back home.

Re: Everyone is home
I plan to take him on a mosey around the neighborhood on Sunday. Maybe we'll find a good spot for some grass trimming. The DOT came today and mowed the shoulders -- of course.

Re: Everyone is home
Envoy got out again while we were at our football game. Fortunately, the horsey neighbors were home, and put him (and his friends) in the other pasture. I guess our patch job wasn't good enough. They will stay in the "safe" pasture until we can refence and triple check everything. Sigh... Always an adventure on the farm. I'm just glad my horses don't run away. They just get out and stay near the house.

Glad that everybody is safe. As God is my witness they think of ways to cost us money and drive us to drink. For some of us it's a short putt.

Amen! Only people already certifiable would own horses anyway.
We bought 6 posts today, but with the short days, we'll have to wait until tomorrow or Wednesday to put them in. There's a rocket launch tomorrow that we want to see. 6:15, so the light will be totally gone once that's over.

I wish I could see the launch. As to the fencing I'll send good thoughts.

Your horses won't run away...they know where they have it good. They just wanted to go visit the neighbors.

Re: Everyone is home
Well... There wasn't a launch. There was an explosion on the launch pad. Very sad for the space station people because their TP and other supplies were on that rocket. But, very good news is that no one on Wallops Island was injured.
We'll get the pasture all fenced in. It's just a matter of time and digging effort. We'll have to test it on a weekend when we are here to guard the borders.

So did I....glad to hear that Russia sent tp and other vital stuff to the station because of this crash.
Hope the weather is decent for fence mending time.

Re: Everyone is home
Today, we had a line of rain, and it's supposed to get COLD. Not ready. A man is coming this weekend to give us an estimate on digging some retention/drainage ditches to help with winter flooding. We might delay fencing until Sunday when it will be really chilly. Welcome November?
The ponies are asking me to break out the sheets. I guess it's officially time to put away the fly sheets.

Re: Everyone is home
Brrr! I had to take down the summer stall guards and close the doors tonight. The breeze is chilly, and the horses look tired. They're tucked in with grain now. I'll go out in about an hour to throw hay and do bed check. I bet at least one will be flat out asleep.

After his adventures he should be good and tired enough to not get out overnight.
It's very cold here too, and windy enough to hold a falling down drunk upright!

Hay season has started. I put out hay nets for tomorrow. Sigh... it's like stuffing money into sacks for the horses to eat.
