Did you catch him yet? Did he eat the cat food? Just wondering if you had to get him for the rehab guy....

Re: Urban Wildlife
When we went out this morning, he wasn't there. The cat food (and can) were gone. That makes me think his mom came and got him and the food. There was no sign of an attack, so I'm pretty sure he's back with his mom. He was too tiny to eat the food. He could barely walk, and I'm not really sure he could see well yet. He was tiny. Let's just hope his mom came and took him home.

I hope it was mom, and not somebody else with bad ideas....

Re: Urban Wildlife
They're loud too. This one was chirping up a storm calling his mom. I haven't heard or seen anything close to where he was, but I think I found a nest. There's some siding that blew down at the foot of the tree. It's got some nice pine needles inside that are smashed down. He's around somewhere, I'm sure. There's absolutely no sign of a pickup/takedown.

They're very clever at hiding. And if the ground has been disturbed his probably fine.

You might see him again. They are very clever, and also quite loyal about their home territory.

Re: Urban Wildlife
I'd prefer if the family moved away. They're too close to the bird feeders. We've also had quite a few rabid ones in the area. They make me a little nervous.

Re: Urban Wildlife
Very understandable. Where are they getting the rabies from? Bats? That baby was acting normally so no rabies to worry about there.

Re: Urban Wildlife
No idea. Probably not bats. We have them, but they are the tiny ones that don't bite big things while they fly. You've got to mess with them to get bit. They are all about eating mosquitoes. And, the white nose disease seems to be getting closer to us. I haven't seen as many bats. All I know is that the counties around here find rabid skunks, raccoons, dogs, and cats every year. People are still convinced they don't need to vaccinate.

Re: Urban Wildlife
So they're getting rabies from the Stupids' unvaccinated pets? How sad.....for all the furbabes both wild and domestic.

Re: Urban Wildlife
No telling where they're getting it, but the Stupids' pets are in danger. Animal control here says that if you see a raccoon, you should assume it's rabid.

Re: Urban Wildlife
Good idea. Even better one is vaccinate your pets and leave the wildlife alone. They are called wildlife for a reason.
