Such a pretty girl. They are looking for a name for her...I say Stormy is a good name.

i don't know why but i thought that Governor's Island was another name for Ellis Island and i was going to think up a name related to that. hmmm....i can't think of a name....but Stormy is good.
i really think if nobody comes up and claims her they need to keep her on the island and make her a mascot;)

Re: CAT SWIMS ACROSS NY HARBOR
I heard about her earlier today on the news. Very cute lil kitty. I hope either her peoples show up to claim her or she becomes the island's mascot. With her personality, I can see her as a greeter kitty at the dock, saying HI to everyone who comes to visit.

Re: CAT SWIMS ACROSS NY HARBOR
Governors Island is not Ellis Island (where the immigrants landed). It was used for various things at different times, including an army post and a coast guard station. A while back it was sold to NYC for $1. part of it is a federal park. and in the summer you can take a free ferry over to there, lots of things going on on summer weekends. I took a tour of the island a few years ago, If ytou remember we were talking about there not being any squirrels there because of them all being eaten during abig hawk migration.

I've seen this story it's all over Facebook. What a miracle.
I think the stories that I've seen is that the she can stay and the
people on the island will make sure that she will have everything she needs or
wants.

I would name her after Gertrude Ederle--famous for swimming across the English Channel.

Re: CAT SWIMS ACROSS NY HARBOR
sue i never thought to look on facebook for this stuff. i looked up the one official one for Patrick the dog who was starved to near death and then dumped down a trash shoot 14 floors. (oh yeah..he's being well taken care of in a vets right here in NJ...he was on Pet Stop the weekend of Artfest so i made sure i saw it;) just this past week they found out that the masshe had in his stomach (that they had to wait over a month to operate on due to his condition)was a giant hair ball because he had been eating his own fur to survive!)
i really like the idea of naming the kitty after the woman who swam the English channel....i knew there were folks who had done it but didn't think to look for a name!
