Re: Netflix
this came into my head only because i saw some beatles stuff in kmart of all places today......but if you like the Beatles and you can get more than one of the dvds at a time you might try for a little beatles double feature. i remember when i was growing up twice a year(once in two different tv stations) they would play A Hard Day's Night and Help back to back. It was a major thing for me...i'd stay up half the night watching them and drive my paRents nuts.
its really fun .....and since you've in your own house (and not an apt) you can sing right along with them if you like;)
and...of course, there's Rocky Horror Picture Show which is more funny than scarey. ....that's one you'd get after you'd watched a bunch of drama to get the drama out of your head;)

I haven't seen Rocky Horror in years. I'm adding that to my list.
That was a funny movie. Do the time warp again. Who
did the part of Dr. Frankenfurter. I know Susan Sarandon was
in it.

Re: Netflix
Tim Curry....he was Frankie. man there were so many chicks back in college hot for that dude in the ripped tights and corset.
Richard O'Brien..he's a guy i didn't remember the name of earlier...he wrote it and was Riff. I have b'way show programs signed by him.(i know i wrote about it in here somewhere...i was so thrilled to get them and made the people at the "b'way cares' table happy.
I"m watching the Treasure of the Sierra Madre (however its spelled)...i wasn't watching the title when it came up! its one of those things that i probably saw a lot as a kid but never understood...makes more sense now that i'm an adult.
i missed this earlier...but Moonstruck the kitty was very well taken care of..she lived with a very well known vet..he hosts the Pet Stop show on the NJ news station. last year he was talking about how he heated up her food to a certain temp so it wouild be the same temp as a mouse. it was better for her to eat it that way or she liked it better that way,i can't remember. but i know they really loved that kitty. i hope they've gotten another one,i just don't get to see the show every week.

That is a great movie. Haven't seen it in years. That's
where the line about "Stinking badges' came from. Yeah, it is one
of those movies you appreciate more as you get older.

Re: Netflix
Ha! Well, I'm a tiny bit embarrassed to admit I've gotten totally hooked on the Deep Space 9 series and have been using Netflix mostly to watch that. (Understand, this from someone who was adamant for 30 years that the only Star Trek worth watching was the original... until I got lured into Second Generation, fell in love with it, and opened my mind!)
But I still reserve Saturday night for movie night and I've seen a few good ones lately. One that comes to mind is The Band's Visit. A quiet little thing, rather stark, but dryly funny and deeply felt. Made me want to watch Everything Is Illuminated again. I also watched The Dukes. I almost turned it off at first (I don't like heist movies, which I thought this was), but decided to give it 15 more minutes. 90 minutes later I was glad I did! Feel good, real-ish & funny.
Not sure what to see next. My Netflix queue is all over the map. What have YOU seen lately? Anything good?

Re: Netflix
i can totally relate to the ST thing....i don't know if i watched more than one or two episodes of STNG the first season. but then one came on that just clicked and i was hooked. i can even tell exactly when it happened, though i can't remember the name of the episode. BUT i thought the only ST was the one with Spock and Kirk (and i guess now i need to add...the ORIGINAL Spock and Kirk...i haven't seen the 'new' movie). do you have that movie in your netflick list?

I've seen the new movie, it's great you will
love it. I don't remember Shatner being in
Next Generation at all but I do remember Spock
and Scotty making an apperence.

Re: Netflix
no..no shatner in STNG but a lot of the other people.
i keep hoping they might bring some STNG people to NYCC every year...we got Marina last year. I would probably fall over if they brought Brent in and he did something similar to what she did.
by the time i'm ready to see the 'new' ST flick it will probably be selling for $5! (I saw the New Willy Wonka DVD is $5 now and that wasn't from so long ago!).

Re: Netflix
That's because the new Willy Wonka is no match for the original! Sorry, but that remake was a bad dog, IMO. Johnny Depp's magic didn't work that time. Gene Wilder's masked depth and understated twinkle totally pawned Johnny Depp and all his technicolor. Think of that, now!
LOVED when Scotty made an appearance on Next Gen. Great episode! And, of course, Spock (and his father Sarek) carried the story forward with their appearances at critical moments in the time line. Even Bones came onboard (or was that one of the movies?)
Who is Marina?
Saw the new movie. Humph. They change history. I like the dimension I'm in, thank you. Humph again.

Re: Netflix
Gene Wilder was just madcap in the original. Depp struck a sinister
note to me.
Actually Bones did come on board or at least made a cameo in
the pilot. As to your last point Well that's what made it fun, you see
they alluded to our dimension.
Marina was the counsler in Next Generation, She was an empath.
P.S. in answer to what's in my queque, I've got the African Queen to
watch this weekend. I have left one sci fi, two drama, two action adventure
and a comedy.

That's where I was trying to get to. I confused the
actress' name with the characters name.

Marina would be Marina Sirtis, who is Counselor Troi.
