SGT REX AND CPL LEAVEY REUNITED!

Don't know if anyone has been following this story but marine Cpt Megan Leavey and her Bomb sniffing dog partner Sgt Rex worked together in Iraq and were both injured in 2006 by an IRD. Megan retired but after his injuries healed Sgt Rex was put back into service for another tour until he came down with some medical problems. Megan wanted to adopt him but the army was going to actually put this hero dog down!
NY Senator Chuck Schumer intervened and signatures poured in to save Sgt Rex and have him be adopted by Megan, and it finally happened yesterday!!!!

Great news.

I read a little about it and saw some vid --- I'm SO happy for that dog and his best friend! They literally went through the wars together and now they get to enjoy their civvy life together, too. Very happy ending.

I can't believe something like that isn't already in place.

HOORAY! I am so glad they are together again after all this time.

I was one of the people who signed that petition. I was also surprised they didn't have some laws or rules in place for situations like theirs.

That should certainly be in place, for military and public service (law enforcement, fire, etc.) dogs.
