Summer Olympics
I know it hasn't started yet, but I thought it will be good to have a thread where those want to talk about the Olympics.

Re: Summer Olympics
I normally love the Olympics but haven't even been able to think about them. Got to admit the winter olympics are my favorite, though

Re: Summer Olympics
So much hooha in the news about security and whatnot. Has the world become too unsafe for such massive international gatherings?

Yes, unfortunately, in my opinion, it has...
Re: Summer Olympics
It's unfortunate that we're so worried about security that we can forget the whole point of the games. (Isn't there something about coming together through sport or something like that?)
Here are our equestrian teams.
http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=20287 I'll be watching as much as I can, although I'm pretty sure we will get to see more jumping than anything. Eventing is where the excitement is! Crazy people.

Re: Summer Olympics
Anyone remember Janet Lynn, the Olympic ice skater from the 80's? She used to train right here in Rockton for the Games, at the Wagon Wheel Lodge iceskating palace (it's gone now).

Re: Summer Olympics
That's the one...and how adorable it is that she wants to meet the Beebs!
Anyway, to highlight the night to day differences in the town I now live to the town I came from, consider that Flint produced a female boxer of the same age named Claressa Shields (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claressa_Shields) The world would really be a screwy place if this were reversed!!

Re: Summer Olympics
Found the schedule for the equestrain events. If they are being broadcast I should be able to
catch a good portion of them.

three ways, three days.
