RIP to our BIG furry friend, Lexi
We have a neighbor (actually he lives in the next block over) who had two BIG Bernese Mountain Dogs and one little curly mix (Cricket). One of the BMDs passed probably a year and a half ago or more, but Lexi and Cricket carried on. Lexi's legs had been failing her and she's been in a doggie wheelchair for almost a year, I'd guess. It's one of those carts for her hind legs that had quit working. The man would walk Lexi and Cricket every day - he was always so attentive to his pooches. We would always go out to see them as they passed by, and the last time she came by, even her front legs gave way. We knew Lexi wouldn't be with us much longer. Yesterday, as I came from the store, I saw him with only Cricket and waved, wondering if this meant what I thought it did. As I parked the car, he and Cricket doubled back to see me, and as he walked up, he tried to tell me that he had to let her go and broke down weeping as he tried. He said she told him with her eyes that it was time. Of course, that got me going too. He just wanted us to know, because we always fussed over our little (?) special needs girl. Rest in peace, dear Lexi...

How heartbreaking! But, oh, didn't Lexi have a good dad, and such a good life with so much love and extraordinary care! And doesn't the grieving dad have a good neighbor, who he recognized would understand and care.

The Bridge has claimed so many recently. RIP, Lexi. I know you will have fun with all the wonderful kids who are waiting at the Bridge. Hugs to you BobCat and to your neighbor, who is a terrific doggie dad.

Lexi had a great life with a wonderful, caring dad.....most would've given up on her before the wheelchair was needed. Very good to have a kindred spirit in you, he knew he could sob and know he'd be understood for his grief in Lexi's parting. (((((HUGS)))))

Wesley was busy on Saturday installing a new furnace, so he wasn't with me when Lexi's dad and Cricket gave me the news, but he walked Argo and Lyra over to his house yesterday to convey his condolences too. We have all been weeping, thinking of our good girl, Lexi. And yes, Lexi's dad was truly a saint, helping her into and out of her wheelchair so often and for so long, and never saying one word of complaint about it. You could always tell that tending to his girl was a labor of love. God will surely bless him for his kind nature - and Lexi too. Here I am getting verklempt again...

Mary, My thoughts are with your friend at this sad time.
Anyone who has lost a beloved companion knows what he is going through and understands the heartbreak he must be feeling.
God bless Lexi.
