Malicious Website?
My Norton program keeps wanting to block the Mutts forum as a malicious website today. Any chance there's a weird program hitch hiking on this site?

Re: Malicious Website?
I can't imagine why. I have McAfee, and it's not giving me any warnings. Did you try rebooting your computer? I don't know why that would help, but that's what I do first when I experience computer issues.

So far, all is well here.

I don't use McAfee, so I won't be much help. Have you checked the settings to see if you can add websites that you know are safe and you trust?

I have McAfee; gbste has Norton and she had the issue. I have no idea of what could be causing the warning.
Re: Malicious Website?
So far so good here---no such warning for me.

I have the free version of Avast. I haven't had any trouble with this forum loading up.

No issues here either. Of course, Macs are different beasts anyway, so I probably am just muddling the data. Hope Norton sorts it out.

Re: Malicious Website?
The only guess I could have is that this, being a free forum, is supported by targeted advertising. If you look under the top banner, you'll almost always see an ad for something. Right now I'm looking at an add for Doggy Daycare & Boarding. I suppose it's because I search for things like this because we travel. Many of the targeted ads I see are for travel related sites. If for some reason, it targeted me to see a site that had malicious intent, my McAfee would probably display that same malicious website warning.
Does that make sense?

Unfortunately, yes. I wish bad web sites weren't a worry, but it's probably better safe than sorry. Of course, THIS website is as far from malicious as anything can get, so it should be taken off the "bad" list.

Today's targeted ad for me is from Fancy Feast... And yes - our bunch is as far from malicious as they come!

Mine is for artsy hummingbird feeders.

Speaking of artsy hummingbird feeders, Western Iowa Feral Cat Program has an
etsay shop has some really cool ones for sale.

Re: Malicious Website?
I've heard of malicious evildoers that cause official-looking "warning" pop-ups to appear on one's screen which, when you click on them (thereby confirming your existence), cause you to transport to certain evil websites or otherwise be infected with computer hurts of various sorts. I believe the solution is 1) never click on any warning whatsoever, 2) turn everything off, and 3) once you turn things on again, go independently to your virus protection company's website and run all available updates and scans.
Ads are a different prospect. All you have to do is breathe and the next time you're online you'll see an add for fresh mountain air.
