Tell him catch and release only works with trout.

Mouski, vacations over....time to catch those mice!
BunBun was up early today to greet me in the yard. Now he expects breakfast as well as lunch!

Leftover veggies from salad are always a hit. Lettuce "stems," carrot tops, peppers that didn't get chopped up. Bunnies are little compost bins.

I put out part of a watermelon rind yesterday and he was eating on that last night. I put out the salad stuff too earlier in the day by my deck. And it turns out nearly 15% of my backyard is covered in tiny wild strawberry plants!

Re: Urban Wildlife
I know....I was amazed when I found all those tiny strawberries hiding under the leaves of the plants. And I thought it was weeds invading my yard. Heck, now I wish my entire yard was covered in those strawberry plants!!!
My Chippie was in the middle of the driveway and I honked the car horn to make him move so I wouldn't run him over. He didn't move, just looked at me. I backed the car up, came forward and honked, then backed up again. Finally I yelled out the window that I didn't want to hurt him, just wanted to drive by. Chippie moved. I put out some seed for him by the deck steps.

LOL He owns the place, doesn't he?
The only visit from wildlife around here has been the 4 foot black snake in the barn. I don't know if he was after mice or tiny toads. We have lots of those in the barn.

I have a huge toad living under my deck. Saw him last night around dusk on the bottom step. He hustled to get out of my way, ducking under the deck in the weeds. Good toad: eat all the skeeters you want!

Re: Urban Wildlife
We have tons of little toads and frogs this year. I've seen a couple medium sized toads, but no huge ones. I guess they had tadpoles and moved elsewhere. I can't tell you how many little green frogs I've seen hiding on plant leaves and stuck to the windows at night. They're feasting.

The most fun thing is when the tree frog babies hide in the fig tree. They look like tiny figs.

I'll try to get a snap of one next time I see it. Usually, I don't have a camera or phone when I'm near the fig tree.

I got frogged yesterday. I was getting in the car to take Bingo to play, and there was a tiny tree frog just sitting over the back door. I tried to poke him so he would move, but no luck. So, I got a small cup to try to catch him. That insulted him, and he jumped right onto my chest and then away into the grass. Splat! Frogged!

Re: Urban Wildlife
Not sure what happened last night, but a HUGE tree branch fell on one of the bird feeder stations. Fortunately, nothing (except the tree) is broken, but what a mess! Feeders are knocked down. The squirrel "skirt" around the shepherd's hook is pushed all the way to the ground. It looks like raccoons or squirrels have had a party. Need to get the loppers out to cut up the branch and remove, and then, put everything back together.
Fortunately, it looks like the hummingbirds are unaffected, and the other birds are just diving to the feeders that I moved to a temporary spot for clean up time.

Re: Urban Wildlife
Everything is good. We need to get a new seed feeder, but we've rigged the old one with hay string. Isn't that how you fix everything in the country? Hay string and duct tape.
