DR WHO IN MIDDLE EARTH??
I read today that they are beginning filming of The Hobbit, The prequel to The Lord of the Rings
some of the LOTR actors are reprising roles (Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood) and there is a long list of new characters including Sylvester McCoy as Radagast, and RUMORED David Tennant as one of the dwarves., and also rumored Leonard Nimoy as Smaug (that's the dragon so I would assume he would be doing the voice

yeah its been going around for about a year...i'll believe it when i see it though! i haven't seen the Hobbit (and yesh it was the cartoon when i saw it) in so long i don't even know what the characters are anymore.
though i'd think he might make a good (though tall) Hobbit with that accent of his!

Re: DR WHO IN MIDDLE EARTH??
Interesting shtuff folks. Here's a web site you might want to take a look at.
http://www.theonering.net/torwp/
No mention of David Tennant or Leonard Nimoy, but no mention of Smaug either, and I know for a fact that Rob Kazinsky (who was supposed to play Fili, one of the Dwarves) has dropped out of filming for health reasons.
If you look at the cast list and there is a gold ring to the right of the name then that is a definite casting.
Only problem I have is that Galadriel isn't in the Hobbit but Cate Blanchett is reprising her role for the film.

Frodo, Drogo, Legolas, Radagast and Saruman were not in The Hobbit either. It looks like it might be very different from the book.

Re: DR WHO IN MIDDLE EARTH??
My understanding is that two movies will be made and the second movie will serve to bridge the gap between the Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring. Maybe some of the actors will be in the second movie???

They could have fit the 'scouring of the Shire' into the extended version and actually have Saruman meet his end as he did in the book.
