It's about a block or two away from the middle school. You could sell stuff for adults in the morning, kid stuff at lunch and the afternoon. Middle schoolers can't drive; you'd have a captive audience. The building would probably come cheap, but I don't know about the asbestos abatement.

Not really on the middle school with the political correctness on food. I rather cater to the adults have it breakfast
till lunch. It would also reduce your overhead. As to the absestos i don't know.

Asbestos is such a dead-end deal breaker. Can't renovate, can't bulldoze. What a shame!
Glad to hear that Mama is such a sweetheart! I was hoping to hear that. Makes it much more likely that the kits will eventually tame, too, with her example and your care.

Someone might buy the building if they can get it almost literally for a song. With asbestos it will have to go super cheap as continuing to remove it per-government mandate is expensive and time consuming.
I have no doubt the kits and mama will find good homes. Would be very nice if they went together.

They're a little tamer each day. They allow handling with no trouble, but no purring yet.

Won't be long before they do purr........if mama purrs the kits will learn that peoples attentions are purring occasions.

Re: Coffee Cup Kitties
One of my foster kittens was adopted today, and his sister went to LWTCBI. I was at the Petfair, but Kevin cleaned out the bathroom, disinfected the bed, carrier, and litterbox, and moved the Coffee Cups into the bathroom. He got them in at 9:30 in the morning, and it was already 100 degrees outside. Good timing--we've been putting gel icepacks under their bedding. We never would have kept up with that today.

Contrataltions on the adoptions. I can't believe the heat though. I thought it was bad down here.

It's been a crazy year. Has the Colorado rain situation got any better? I heard that the river was really low. I am really hoping that the weather evens out. I'm sure the CC Kitties are very happy to have inside accommodations now.

Re: Coffee Cup Kitties
It's been hot and dry. At least less of the state is on fire. They're getting a little rain on the western slope and in the mountains, but the high plains are high and dry. The Coffee Cup Crew were a bit frantic at first, but they're very comfortable today. I discovered they have ear mites, and started treating that. The babies are too small for Revolution. I don't know if a nursing mom should have it either, although she seems to be trying to wean them now. The kittens are plenty old enough to do without the mother's milk, but they like the family time.

I hear you about the heat. It's just beyond awful here. Glad to know the little family is
settling in.

Re: Coffee Cup Kitties
A quick internet search indicates that Revolution is the ONLY flea stuff safe to give a nursing mother cat, but a quick call to your vet tomorrow should confirm. That's the sort of thing even the front office staff is likely to know, so I'd recommend doing that before treating.
Congrats on the adoption and move for the fosters!!

Re: Coffee Cup Kitties
I need to get mama cat in to see a vet. It looks to me like she may have an ear infection as well as mites. If I can't get that ok'ed through our rescue, I'll get her in on my own dime.
I ended up choosing names for everyone based on coffee shops. The other cute coffee related names had all been used before. The little black female is now Gloria Jean, the little tabby boy is Starbuck, and mama is Java Jackie (Java Jackie's is a coffee place in the nearby town of Las Animas)

Poo girl. Sounds like everybody is doing well despite mites and possible
infections.

Re: Coffee Cup Kitties
Great names! Good idea, and great choices!
I hope you can get Java Jackie to see a vet soon. Let us know what the rescue says, and what happens. (When you take Ms. Jackie in, just stuff Gloria Jean and Starbuck into the carrier with her. Why not? You know they'll check them out, even as you protest that you can't pay for them, they just couldn't be separated. )

Re: Coffee Cup Kitties
Got the go ahead for a vet visit for mom and babies. I'll make the appointment first thing in the morning. With any luck, I'll get them in tomorrow. Tuesday is surgery day, but they could get them in in the afternoon.

I like how you think Suzzzz....
I like the names.........but Starbuck could also be named after a scifi show character I remember from the late 70's.

I think the sci fi character and the coffee shops were named for the Melville character. I like literary analogies too.
