Re: For Dinner Tonight?
will they give out rain checks? CVS does....though the last thing i went for and got one they never had back in stock:( But its worth a shot....and if they limit the amount and you need more...just go in to various walgreens throughout the week and get a couple more rainchecks.
i rarely do rainchecks but they do come in handy at grocery and drug stores.
though there are people (i was told by someone who worked a register at the grocery store) who even when the stuff is still on the shelf will go to customer service and get rain checks cuz they don't want to spend money that week of the sale. now that is flat out wrong.

walgreens makes you buy all 10 items to get the discount, and I can't afford the $10, and my useless freezer wouldn't be able to keep the icecream anyway
not sure what I'll have for dinner tonight since I'll be running to the library and then over to the Strand

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
I made stuffed green bell peppers. They were huge, beautiful peppers and I used rice, tomato sauce, basil, raisins, sauteed onions and browned ground turkey to stuff them and then baked them, after pouring a bit more tomato sauce on top. They were yummy and low fat and all that.
Unfortunately, about 4 hours after dinner, I read a news article where the ground turkey I used for dinner was recalled because of salmonella poisoning. *sigh*
So far, so good...but it really makes me upset about the poor turkeys whose deaths were just for nothing. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do respect what I eat and take care to try to get organic meat as much as possible and I also cook healthy meals. I feel I give respect to the animal whose life was used to sustain mine. It does upset me that so much meat is going to be thrown out, and that humans were put at risk because of lack of cleanliness.
Anyway, dinner was tasty and I'm hoping we have no ill side effects from it.

had pizza for lunch, courtesy of the pricing team at my office who did a presentation for the rest of the company.
When it's export's turn to make a presentation I hope they don't expect lunch. LOL

mockingbird - the reports I've seen say you'll be ok as long as you've "cooked it enough". I think you'll be ok!

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
yeah that is what they said on the news....that as long as you're not a person who likes their burgers on the rarer side you should be okay. though i understand, i feel bad about animals who are killed and then not even be able to be useful in their death.
reminds me of what my dad told me a couple times (when i was worrying about wearing leather....like shoes...not like leather pants or something crazy!) that when the pig is killed they use everything for something so its not a waste. ya know they even use pigs for people with diabetes and valves and veins for human transplants etc. those pigs are pretty noble porkers!

Tonight it was a grilled goat cheese, or in my case lightly toasted, with tomato and
avocado. Potato salad. With an unfiltered wheat beer.
Jeane, I saw this quote in the Joy of Cooking. "A pig is like a saint, he is honored more
in death than he is in life."

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
that nasty waste of good money horrible pizza....i swear some day i'm taking a picture of it so people can see what i'm talking about! its a crust that is thin as four pieces of paper and doesn't seem to be cooked with maybe 1t of what tastes like catsup shmeared on it and just bastely enough greasy cheese to cover the crust.
i pulled the cheese off and ate that then i made some mirpoix and salmon (hey that salmon lasted me a week! and underf $3 for the can!).

Jeane, don't bother I already know. I totally muffed my dinner. Trust me not worth
remarking on. Well there is always next Saturday. I might toast some bread and make a goat
cheese sandwich.

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
i don't think i've ever had toasted goat cheese sandwich....is it a softer sort of cheese like farm cheese?
i had some nasty breaded fried chicken that i tried to get most of the nastiness off of and put on some good trader joes whole wheat whole grain bread. but i'm started to regret it.

Yes, and it's very good. Very different taste and texture than cow's mils
cheese.

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
i've tasted goat cheese but never bought it. they've had it as samples at TJ's before. i'd like to taste goat milk or goat yogurt which is supposed to be really good for ya. but i don't want to spend a lot of money for just a taste! (and i can't find the yogurt anywhere here).

Re: For Dinner Tonight?
had a chicken croquette and some fries for lunch. not sure what dinner will be. I'm hoing they got more ice cream in at Walgreens. I don't feel like having my usual Monday pizza, especially if they don't have the AC turned on.
