Yes, it's been proven that kitty purrs are a great curative.

Re: BIJOUX
Went to get Bij from the vet.....down the hall, open the door and call out 'where's my good boy? where's my little sweetheart?' got a loud mew like Bij was saying "over here!" Open the door and he practically jumped into my arms he was so happy to see me. Told him I was so happy to see him, I missed him, lets go home.....NO problem getting him in the carrier. Rubbed his ears and scratched his chin the whole ride home. Got him a nice dinner, ate like he hadn't eaten in days. Gave me a few cuddles, then took a very deep sleep nap on the couch between mom and I. Bij sure was glad to be home!

Re: BIJOUX
Hasn't been giving me many cuddles lately but has been glued to mom a lot. I wish he'd snuggle my head, maybe my earache would go away with kitty warmth soaking in. No escorts home either.

Bij! You're supposed to be nurse kitty. Don't forget what nurse kitties do.

Re: BIJOUX
Don't know what's wrong. Not been getting many cuddles lately, only one escort home in a week. Not even getting greeted a lot these days. Bij sleeps so soundly anymore, and longer too. You can talk to him and he doesn't wake up. But lightly touch him and you get a small startled quizzical "Burrrurrr.....?" followed by purrs.
I also get a few run-by cuddles begging for dinner, crunchies, or the 'clean my pan out' stare.
Mom in the meanwhile gets so much kitty attention she pushes him my way and tells him to give me some.

Re: BIJOUX
I think maybe he's finally figured that out. Last night and tonight I got a nice long lap snuggle. He hasn't done that since before my brain surgery. He was on the walker seat when I walked in after mom and I got back from going to church lunch and dollar tree. So I greeted him! Was followed to my chair, and up in the lap for cuddles. Ahhhhh........after months of not getting that I really enjoyed it. Then he glanced at mom and went over to ask for mom hugs. He has a certain way of standing up, paws on her knees, that pleading look in his eye. It only means one thing: I need mom hugs and I need them right now.
Got a bit more cuddles from Bij. He investigated my rootbeer float, took a couple licks of icecream, decided it was too cold. Asked to see what mom had, determined it was the same, and took off.
Sleepy boy on the couch gave me nitenite kisses so still no escort. Did he forget there's a catnip plant in my livingroom waiting to be molested?

He probably decided that napping was more important. My kitties have been sleeping like rocks since it's turned into deep autumn.

Re: BIJOUX
So has he. I got greeted at the door tonight and a short hello cuddle with kisses, then off to snuggle next to mom. Then try to wake her up for dinner....I got that for him. No thankyou at first, but after a little coaxing let me hold and rock him. No burp. Not long after that he was off to snuggle alongside mom still sleeping on the couch. Nitenite kisses but no escort again. Mom was still sleeping and he had to be sure she didn't fall off the couch.

Good job, Bij! Keep paying attention to your Lori and your meowmy. Both of them need your care.

Re: BIJOUX
Poor little guy had to be poked twice yesterday for his annual blood test. He's lost about 12.5% of his total body weight in the past year. That's worrysome. Not diabetes or Cushings, he doesn't have those symptoms. It's either thyroid issues showing up or we're hoping just the weight loss of old age. Bij only weighs 10.2# now. We won't find out until late next week because of the holiday delaying the lab results.

Re: BIJOUX
Good thoughts! GK is getting thinner in his old age. He has lost about the same amount of weight. His blood work is all normal, and his fur is still glossy and soft. So, the vet says it's just age. As long as he's happy and comfortable, so are we.

Re: BIJOUX
Bij's hair is glossy, soft, and thick so no worries there. Looks younger if you don't notice the white hairs coming in here and there. The lump on his throat has not changed in size, shape, or consistency. But I keep thinking that it might have something to do with this sudden weight loss.
Got some snuggles last night, kisses too, and an escort home. Of course had to visit the catnip plant to be sure it was still alive. I gave him a couple small leaves...they had to be pinched off anyway. It was almost touching the grow light bulb.

Re: BIJOUX
Bij is now down to 10#. So skinny it worries me. But the vet says his bloodwork came back normal, it's just old age. He sleeps so much now and so soundly sometimes he doesn't even know I've been there. He's only had the energy to come to my place once in the past week.

I don't think so.........his hearing is really good when he's awake. He just sleeps a lot more soundly these days.

Re: BIJOUX
Petie did too. They slow down. When he started losing weight, we added cream to his treat time. He got a little heavy cream and his usual treats. He didn't gain much weight, but he was very happy with the cream.

Re: BIJOUX
Maybe we could try that. His cholesterol was a little high the past two years but at his age could cream really hurt?
I haven't gotten many cuddles lately, he's been glued to mom since it got cold. He sleeps most of the time anymore unless he gets hungry.
