I'm sending some healing purrs too. Glad I have a lot of them since meowmy and my Lori seem to need them right now too.

My meowmy calls the close laying "laying on of paws." She says there is no better medicine.

My grandmeowmy had that done a couple years ago. Now she doesn't need big thick glasses. She says it was the best thing to happen to her eyes in a long time.

It should, I have the same surgery to look forward to at some point in the future if I still have medical coverage. I already have the beginnings of them in both eyes.

I just got my first set of "bifocal" contacts. I have one eye corrected for close up and one for far away. In general, it works great. Sometimes, I feel like I am looking through a weird lens though - like nothing is quite focused like I expect. I'm getting used to it though. Cataract surgery is a while off for me, I think. Maybe by then, I won't need to correct either eye.

I tried bifocal glasses decades ago, when I was 20. Couldn't function at all in them. As nearsighted as I am, everything is distance to these eyes. Now it's gotten to the point the glasses will correct only so much.

'Tonio, does your meowmy have to get the other eye done too?

They're not cataracts but the kitty dr. says I'm going very slowly blind. Good thing my meowmy doesn't move the big furniture, it's the dratted boxes she has out from time to time I have trouble with. So I get in them so they'll smell like me and I won't almost run into them anymore. Last time, I got in a box that was half full of canned stuff! The space was sooo tiny for me to sit.
So far I can see better than light/shadow but sharp details are gone. Very glad my ears and nose work well!

Use those whiskers too! They work real well at telling you when the boxes are around. I knew a blind barn kitty years ago, and she was still a mighty hunter because she used her ears, nose, and whiskers. She lived to a ripe old age and hardly ever got lost when new hay got piled up or things moved around in the feed room.
