This morning we had a small miracle. Winnie's eating room has moved closer to Mouski's kitchen spot. I left all doors open. Winnie eats FAST (more evidence of having to defend her suppers), and she finished to come and watch Mouski enjoy his breakfast. He eats SLOWLY. She sat near him to take her after-breakfast bath without hissing or trying to push him out of his bowl. He calmly finished his food, and went to his favorite bath spot.

I'm not betting on complete success yet, but I am happy that we had such a happy breakfast to start the weekend. I love you

Ear recheck is good. They were a bit dirty, and the vet put in one more topical antibiotic treatment just to be sure to get all the infection. But, she doesn't need to go back. I leave the ears alone for two weeks, and then I should clean once a month with a cotton ball and some ear cleaner solution or vinegar and water.

She's been zooming all over the place, climbing the tree, and scratching her post. She's a happy cat. I just wish Mouski wasn't so upset about her. It will work out. I'm impatient.

I had a friend come to spend last night and today at our house. Winnie charmed the pants of her. Unfortunately, she (Winnie) also showed the mean kitty side by chasing poor Mouski around a little. Mouski is just going to have to stand up for himself at some point, I think.

I am going to buy some Feliaway plugin things today. I remember they helped Shadow when we moved to a new house and she was very scared and hiding in a closet. I figure the worst that can happen is nothing. Biggest challenge is finding somehow to plug them in the right way. Our wall plugs are all low on the baseboards and sideways since the house is ancient and was wired long after it was built. I'll make it work though. Smile

Calming down. We still have occasional hisses, but for the most part, they have agreed to ignore each other. Mouski has ventured out of the bedroom, and is now visiting the living room while Winnie is there. We even had some bed sharing last night. Smile

Welcome Winnie - Page 2 Empty Re: Welcome Winnie

The new plan is to keep Winnie in the bedroom for the days. We have litter, food, and water in there, and our smells (and Mouski's) are there too. She will not feel overwhelmed, and Mouski has the rest of the house so he can live mostly like he did before she came. He won't be able to sleep on the giant cat bed during the days, but I think he will be fine with his sofa spot until this works out.

We are going to let them have the full house at night since they both have sleep spots (Mouski with us and Winnie on the cat tree) which are in other parts of the house. Last night, all was peaceful. No evidence of bad potty places, so I think it will work.

Right now, Mouski is lying on the arm of the chair next to me, and he seems relaxed. Hopefully, they will make their peace through the door to the bedroom, and all will be open and happy soon. We will, for the foreseeable future, keep the litter and food on separate floors and will just need to figure out how to keep Bingo out of the litter while we aren't home.

It seems to be working. Mouski is much more relaxed even when Winnie is out and about. Maybe a couple more days of prison for her. I feel bad because she cries to get out. We visit a lot, but she wants to be with people. But, if it's making them more comfortable with each other, we will keep working at it.

We tried that when she first got here, and she jumped out. She is an escape artist. Smile But, we're making it work. If we need to, my friend offered her extra large dog crate, which is big enough for a litter box, a hammock, and a food/water area.

We might be coming to a truce. They still aren't hanging out together, but Mouski was sleeping on his porch bench and Winnie was on the dryer. They could see each other, but were far enough apart to be comfortable. Any progress is good progress.

She's doing great. She and Mouski are getting things sorted out. I think they were both upstairs today for a while. That would be a first. She has completely settled in, and is becoming a pet. Smile

She says thanks for thinking of her! I love you

Winnie is welcome. I would give more rubs to our cats if they let me. I like hearing purrs.
