more Gateway adventures
Today was BIG VET DAY. Gateway had to see his regular vet for his annual visit and the cardiologist for his ECG. He is doing great. His heart rate is normal, and his blood pressure is only a little low. His heart has a thickened muscle, but the ventricle that was all enlarged is back to almost normal size. This means that he is no longer on the high risk list for complications. He is on minimal medicine (Pepcid reduced to 1/4 pill once a day) and is feeling wonderful. I think he also forgave me for driving him all over the state for his doctor visits.

Gateway says that the adventure was too much. He's pooped. He has spent most of the day sleeping on the back of the recliner. He isn't ill... He is still eating and lively, but he is just sleepy. I agree. Driving all over the state is tiring. HO HUM!

I forget where it is you need to take him. How far do you have to go?

We live about 1.5 hours from Richmond, where his cardiologist is. The drive isn't long, it's just a lot to do in one day. Of course, in kitty time, 3 hours in the car is almost eternity! Gateway was climbing all over the place trying to get out of his carrier and then out of the car. He was very sure to sing for me as we got closer to home.

Re: more Gateway adventures
Gateway vs. the shnow! He was tired of being inside, and asked to go out when I went to turn horses out. I opened the door and he scooted right out. OOO! Wait! It's cold and wet outside. What??? He was so upset with the snow that he went to his usual litter spot outside and used the snow like litter. Then, it was right back to the door. He was glaring at me the whole time as if I ordered this weather.
Now, mind you, we only have a little dusting on the ground. It isn't anything to pay attention to. But, Gateway thinks it's the worst thing that's happened since last year's blizzard.

Lol, Becky! Shop Dog keeps going from door to door looking for the door into summer. Of course it's my fault that it doesn't appear!

Hasn't Gateway been looking out the window, seeing the snow out there? Don't blame him for wanting back inside, it's been cold lately.

Re: more Gateway adventures
Gateway doesn't seem interested in watching the snow. Once he figures out that it's cold outside, he runs to his sofa and sleeps the rest of the day away. I agree with him! Hibernation is the way to spend the winter.

Re: more Gateway adventures
He's passed out now. He spent the whole day inside/outside/inside/outside. He decided it was too cold around 3:00 and came in for good. He must have eaten like a little piggy because he had hiccups after dinner. I guess being in the cold made him hungry.

Proabably did, it takes a lot of calories to stay warm in the cold even if you do have a nice fur coat on.

Re: more Gateway adventures
The new year brought scary things sliding off the house roof AND the barn roof. There are big pointy things that are crashing off the roof on the house and big snows sliding to the ground from the barn. It is a good day though. It was warm for the first time in forever, and I got to play outside. Mom told me I have muddy paws and need to clean up but I don't care. I am just going to step on the carpet and use the computer no matter what.

Keep a look out for the cold weather, dear Gateway. In Michigan, the weather was warm & sunny at lunchtime. Then when I got home from my sister's place, it was cold and windy. Stay warm tomorrow!

Glad you got some outside time Gateway. It's very important for
us to go out no matter what the weather. I like to go out even when
it's cold. Antonio

Gateway, you sure had some fun huh? Did your meowmy try to wash your paws for you? (if I had to lick my paws clean and they were muddy I wouldn't want to clean them either) Watch out for falling icecicles!

Re: more Gateway adventures
My mom has a little rug by the back door. I sort of shuffle my paws across it because it feels nice and scratchy. That seems good enough for her. Once I dry off, I take a good bath. No way am I letting anyone get me WET. -Gateway
Yesterday was nice and warm but rainy. Last night, the temperature dropped and the wind started. Today was sunny and cold. It's supposed to stay cold too. I guess we had enough of a break to melt the snow and now we just get the brown cold winter weather. Better than blizzards and floods though.

Re: more Gateway adventures
Awwww, you wipe your feet! What a good and smart boy you are. Still, what harm is there in letting your meowmy use a warm, damp washcloth to get most of the mud off? It would feel kinda like your original furmom giving your feet a bath.
I hope you get a nice warm break again soon, so you can stay outside more for fun. No fun if your feet are too cold to catch anything you chase out there, is it? And cold ears and tail aren't much fun either......Bij
