I agree, start early and he will learn to love the brush if he doesn't love it the first time.

Kilmouski finds his inner equestrian!
Don't know why this one turned out so small.

The little man now is reliable with litter. He was playing with his Auntie Fiffur schmousie, and he just stopped and trotted to the other room to use the box. He knows where both the upstairs and downstairs boxes are. Good kitty! Yesterday, he missed the edge, but that happens to all kitties sometimes. No problems. We have paper towels!

GK let Kilmouski give him a kiss! GK was sleeping on my lap, and Kilmouski jumped on the arm of the chair. He sniffed and then kissed GK. GK opened one eye and let the little one just be there. We've made progress.

Gateway is still protesting, but not as much. He approaches and stares from a distance. It's funny. I thought GK would be the one slower to accept the new kid.

At last we see glimmers of a peaceful future. NO more hissing or growling. I think it was sweet of Kilmouski to give GK a kiss. Maybe if he tried that with Gateway or won't Gateway let him get that close?

Re: Look what the neighbors dragged in
Wow! What a difference a week makes. Last night, all the kitties slept on the bed with us. It started out with just Gateway on the feet. Then Kilmouski climbed by my shoulder. Then GK came in between us. When I woke up, GK and Kilmouski were snuggled together in between their people. Gateway had gotten up for a snack earlier.
Now, Gateway is asleep next to his dad while Kilmouski plays with a string toy. It's been a week since Gateway came out of the bedroom while Kilmouski was out.

Re: Look what the neighbors dragged in
Everyone seems to get along now. GK has been stealing Kilmouski's soft food, so I need to supervise breakfast and dinner. But, beyond that, all is quiet. Everyone is snoozing in front of the wood stove. It's CHILLY outside!

Well you know there is nothing like a warm fire and cold weather to bring about
peace.

Today, Kilmouski learned to climb the stairs. He was downstairs when we went to work, and was upstairs on the guest bed when we got home.

We've had some races, but not real ones yet. He's busy jumping around and pulling every toy out of the little condo thing.

Re: Look what the neighbors dragged in
Today, he's going everywhere at top speed. Gateway and GK are just staring at him. They seem to be wondering what the rush is all about. Gateway is grooming and saying, "Thank goodness I'm not speeding all over the place."

They're probably also thinking "Kids, always in a rush." and shaking their heads.

Re: Look what the neighbors dragged in
I'm thinking I might have to put him in a pillowcase tonight. He's climbing everything, and he has eaten my aloe plant. Fortunately, the aloe won't hurt him (unless it stabbed his tongue), and the furniture is holding its own so far. I'm not sure it'll make it until he gets out of this phase.

You may have to teach him like a puppy, with a crate.......

Re: Look what the neighbors dragged in
I wonder if he would calm down with a little more focused playtime to wear him out???
