Everyone is home
Envoy and Kina came home today. It's going to be a difficult week, I think. Envoy and Cree did NOT see eye to eye. Envoy wants to kill Cree. I think I'm going to have to keep them apart, or keep Kina out of the mix for a while. I'm working at home tomorrow to keep an eye on everyone. I don't want any serious injuries.

Better today. We had a few squeals over the fence, but mostly they grazed in their own pastures. Come to find out, my electric fence wasn't plugged in. Cree crawled through the fence and was in the same pasture as Envoy and Kina. No fireworks.
I'm going to keep them in separate pastures with the fence turned ON for the rest of the week. We'll try sharing pasture on Saturday.

We had some non-squeal sniffing today. Slow, steady improvement.

Re: Everyone is home
Everyone was out together today. I started by letting Envoy and Cree go out, and Kina was in her own pasture. The boys squealed and ran around, but eventually agreed just to ignore each other. Every once in a while, they'd make noise, but no biting or kicking. Later, I let Kina go out. Envoy keeps her away from Cree, but that's ok. It's instinct. Cree can see them, and he is happy enough to have company. Maybe, eventually, they will like each other, but if they can just get along peacefully, I'm happy. More trials tomorrow after the storms are gone.

Today, I planted memorial trees for Casper and Sabi. (Sabi's tree died in the cold winter.)

Kina is showing off her shoeless foot. She pulled the shoe on her good foot, and is taking the week off. Oh well... It's raining anyway.

I did. It'll probably be replaced it's been used twice already. It's getting thin. But, I keep all the shoes I find. They go up for good luck!

The trees look nice.
Guess Kina feels she doesn't need shoes to go squishing around in the mud.

Farrier came today, and she is just fine. No damage done. I missed the farrier's visit though. There was a 20 MILE backup that the traffic report didn't mention. It took me 2 hours to get home.

Re: Everyone is home
It really sucks when you drive a manual tranny car. My left leg was getting a workout while the rest of me was getting fat.
Today, the kids are in the front (driest) pasture. We have pretty significant flooding in the back because of a beaver dam somewhere on the creek and all of the week's rain. It was time to rotate anyway. They are happy to see different grass, and it gives me a place to hang ALL the blankets to air out before taking them (in shifts) to the laundry. I can't believe 3 horses have 9 blankets between them. It's insanity. That doesn't include 2 liners and 3 neck covers!

Heehee! It IS like I am ready to show. I haven't counted the fly sheets and coolers.
I do love my car, and since we don't often have traffic, I still prefer manual. With the long drive, it gives me something to keep the commuter coma at bay.

So how many spare halters and leads do you have? You know leather for shipping, and they had have fleece on them. Break away nylon for stall.

Re: Everyone is home
Haahaa! Nope. I used to have leather shipping halters with fleece and nylon/leather crown for barn. But, now that we're all at home, we just use the safety halters for everything. The leather ones just molded because I don't go many places. I also gave up on shipping boots because they just collect poo. Yuck!
I AM going to make some sock tail bags for Envoy. He seems dedicated to having a thin, wimpy tail.

Use an old sock and electrical tape.

Re: Everyone is home
I also cut another sock into strips for extra fly swishes. I "sew" the strips onto the sock bag. A real fancy operation for socks that otherwise would be garbage.
