Re: Everyone is home
The horses enjoyed the really warm weather. I wish I had felt better. It was damp, but the temps were perfect for a ride. If my luck holds, I'll feel like riding when the highs are in the 20s.

Huddled under the blankets with purr therapy will make you feel better in no time! Plus, warm kitties piled on top of you makes you feel warmer too.
It could be allergies....stuffy/runny nose can make your throat sore from postnasal drip. If you're not sneezing too it's not a cold.

I'm sneezing. It's definitely a cold. I don't normally have allergies (although I know they can come at any time). I do, however, live in a place where most people suffer a lot, and share ALL the symptoms. But... This is definitely different. Aches, stuffy, sneezing, grumpy. Sigh...
The horses need to be brushed to get ready for blanket weather. It was almost 75 degrees yesterday. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 38. At the rate things are dropping, I wonder if we'll actually make that. Poor kids. They were enjoying the early spring.

It's a cold then. Definitely take a cue from Mooch and start hibernating! That will make you get plenty of rest, especially with furry nurses to take care of you.
75? I'd absolutely KILL to have those temps here. But to drop to 38.....that's a big sudden change! (I'd kill for that 38 at this point too)

That weather is gone. I'm trying to work up the courage to go out and prep tomorrow's hay. The water tub heater is plugged in, and I'm going to put blankets on the horses. I'll put extra hay in the nets since it helps keep the horses warm. We're going to have temps in the low 30s, and lots of wind. They say that it will feel like highs in the 20s. Yuck!

They did fine with their blankets on today. They were UP with all the wind, but they are in now and munching. I am going to put neck covers on since the wind chill won't get much above 0 tomorrow, and their hay nets hang on the fence where there's really no wind block.

We've had high winds too.....almost enough to knock you off your feet at times! Hope those blankets have VERY secure straps to hold them on. When it's this cold and windy they need the horsie version of dr. dentons jammies.

Re: Everyone is home
We will be going to boarding school next weekend. I'm going on Monday to drink coffee and make plans. I have some cleanup to do in the paddocks since my friend has been so sick. I don't mind. It's just picking up poop. I do my best problem solving when I'm cleaning stalls and paddocks.
With the horses at boarding school, there will be none here. My husband gets the winter to rest up! The pasture recover will be so much better without anyone pounding around on the ground. I think I might keep them away until May so the grass can get a really good start.

Won't Bingo miss seeing the ponies at home? Or will you be taking him with you when you visit them at the school?

Bingo will make occasional visits. He can't run free there because the neighborhood has leash laws, but I do bring a long tie that he can use. I hook it to the side of the paddock stalls, and he gets to play in the paddock or go into the stalls for rest. The horses like seeing him.

Poor kids. The weather today has been miserable. They had sheets on, and were still not very happy to be outside. It's not supposed to get much better until the end of the week. They will go out because it's better for them to move around, but they are not very happy about the horrible weather.

I don't blame them. This weather is enough to make even the sunniest person depressed.
Have the ponies ever tried to play with Bingo? Just curious.

They have nosed on him and let him sniff around them, but they don't play like Cree did. Cree and Bingo used to play chase.

Will Cree's new family let Bingo visit....a play date with Cree? They might enjoy watching that.

Re: Everyone is home
I haven't asked. They probably have dogs of their own, and it might be a bit too much. But, when spring comes, they might bring Cree for a ride so we can all ride together at the park. I told them he could ride in my trailer since theirs is a little small for him. If Cree visits, Bingo will definitely want to have a run with him.

I bet Cree will want to play with his old friend again too when he visits.
