Pray for Bijoux
He has a large lump on his neck that wasn't there last month. Goes to see the vet tomorrow....and we dread the worst. It's off to the right of his trachea, just above the collar and fairly solid under his skin.
I'm afraid for my sweet little boy.......

Re: Pray for Bijoux
Well, Bij was very brave and good at the vets. Only growled a bit at the thermometer (temp normal). Did a needle aspiration of the lump and got straw colored fluid. That rules out most cancers since those are usually pretty solid. It did not rule out lymphoma....so off to the pathology lab it goes. We're hoping and praying it's just a harmless cyst.
The waiting is just killing us.....and we're lovin' on Bij as much as we can.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
Inconclusive......so had blood tests today. Suspect thyroid tumor caused the cyst. Keep prayin' folks!

Re: Pray for Bijoux
Tests came back normal for thyroid function so no xrays needed. Guess that's good news. Just gotta keep an eye on him for more cysts and if it comes back we'll deal with it then. Still don't know what caused the cyst in the first place.

That can be worrisome. He said he'd lost a pound in six months Just something to keep an eye on.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
Odd, but not terrible. Glad it was good(ish) news. Was he supposed to drop a little weight? I'm sure he'd be more than happy to eat extra big dinners to gain it back.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
He's been getting 2 dinners to help. He doesn't eat quite as much in a sitting these days and he's getting a lot of exercise walking to my place to check the catnip plant. The cyst has refilled again and is very hard to the touch. Will have to call the vet and see how much to drain it again.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
Yes, so far he's acting fine. Just that lump is back and it gets in the way of my giving him nice chin rubs.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
And he won't let me give him the deep chin rubs anymore. Vet said to leave it be, it might drain on it's own (messy and painful I bet). Otherwise, we have to pay an expensive vet in Madison to surgically remove it. Would cost at least as much as Maggie's eye surgery last year.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
I have a friend who has a cyst on her wrist. It fills up/shrinks on its own, and she says it doesn't hurt at all. It's just a nuisance when it's filled up. I hope Bij's is the same way.

Re: Pray for Bijoux
Seems to be. Last night I get in a chin rub and took some pics of him walking on his leash-unheld- coming down the hall to my place. A few by his stocking & schmouse I gave him. Another by the tree in the lobby.
Sue, anyway to post those pics if I send them to you via phone?

Please do! I'd like to have those pics in here. You can see the special embroidered paw print stocking I got for Bij in one of them.
