Mr. Monk Gets Cleaned Out came in yesterday just before I left the library. Got almost 50 pages read already last night. The first paragraph had me laughing........so far it's been a good book.

Got a lot more of that Monk book read last night since I was waiting for the torrential rains to ease up before walking across the yard to go home. The yard was flooded when I did leave.

I am reading Beverly Cleary's Ramona books. No. I don't want to see the new movie. I just think it is about time I read this series.

Re: what cha readin??
i remember those books from when i was little...they were there after i read the Jenny Cat books i think;)
Beverly Cleary makes a cameo in the movie...i think it would be cool to see her. she's 93 i think. they were talking about it on The View and the reason she finally allowed one of her books to be made into a movie (cuz she held out all these years and refused to let them do it) was because she wanted to see it before she died.
i hope they did her justice and i hope they get a few more of the books on film while she can still make cameos:)
i've started on the 2nd Odd Thomas book...i just went and checked Dean's website to make sure i was reading them in order. i have only one book of my own but i got the rest from the library....the only books i'll be missing when i read these through are the two graphic novels.i got a sampler of the first one at the last NYCC....don't know if i can buy them but i'd like to see them at least.

I remember reading the Ramona books as a kid. I don't have interest in watching the movie either.

Re: what cha readin??
i think the movie is aimed more at little kids or tweens who aRe into that chick from the Wizards of Waverly Place. i wish they would show the clip with Beverly Cleary in it on some show..i'd like to see that part.
I've started the 2nd in the Odd Thomas books last night. (the first one i read a few months ago was actually the third book in the series!). makes me wonder what friends Dean Koontz must have....either that or he does a lot of research. cuz there are some very interesting characters in these books and i really wonder if some of them might be based on real people.

Hit the library. Picked some books. One of them is called
the Last Kashmiri Rose. It's set the wanning days of British
raj. The British ruled India until the late 40's Raj is a Hindustani
word for rule. Sounds interesting, just getting ready to start it.

Re: what cha readin??
I like it when a book gets interesting early instead of in the last ten chapters. I tend to enjoy the book more when that happens.

Re: what cha readin??
king does a lot of character building up before he gets to the meat of the story sometimes. but i like it when a story gets into the actual story in the first three chapters. (though when i was taking writing classes we were taught to get the person's attention in the first three pages if not the first three paragraphs!).

Re: what cha readin??
I don't mind the first three chapters for introducing characters, describing the setting, etc. After that, I do expect something to happen to get my attention and to keep it until the end of the book.

Re: what cha readin??
i think that's why i like these mysteries....they tend to get to the big thing in the first couple chapters, then you have a lot of searching around and then in the last 100 pgs they tend to get really busy. of course when you get into certain mysteries they're pretty predictable almost like a Harlequin Romance.

Finished the Monk book, it sure ended differently than I thought it would. I didn't know who did those murders until the very end.
