Re: more Gateway adventures
Gateway will be 9 in the fall. He's an old man who still acts like he's 2. I can't believe it! 9!!!
He was so sleepy from the trip that he spent the whole night under the covers purring. He hardly even moved while I flopped around trying to get comfortable.

Antonio will be nine this fall also. Right now he is curled up next to me making
the most precious squeaky sounds.

The cardiologist says that Gateway is doing very, very well for a kitty with his problem. He is active and bright. Many kitties seem to suffer a lack of energy and difficulty breathing. I need to go hunt the little fuzz butt down and monitor his breathing.

Re: more Gateway adventures
Wow, he is doing very well for a kitty in his condition. The fact Gateway is so active and doing so well is a testiment to the great care he's getting from you and his doctors. Trips like that one are very tiring on a kitty, heck, they're tiring on us peoples doing the driving too.
9 isn't really that old considering most kitties live to be 16-20 these days.

The breathing rate (while asleep) has been a consistent 36/minute. That's good for him. I need to keep my eye on him just to make sure his breathing doesn't get too quick or labored. But, really, I'm not too worried about that now.
Poor little guy had to spend the day inside sleeping. The weather was stinky, and he didn't want to go out. I'm sure he will be raring to go tomorrow.

A rainy day is a good excuse for a day of rest, and probably just what he needed after all that excitement.

Re: more Gateway adventures
Gateway caught the mouse! We had a nasty little rodent crawling around in the kitchen, and the little spotty guy caught one right outside the kitchen today. He was proudly carrying it across the grass when I saw him. I hope it was the one that has been pooping in the silverware drawer. I have been cleaning everything every day and it's getting old.
Good boy, Gateway. You keep on being the mighty hunter!

Suze: I like mice, but NOT in the house!!! Good boy, Gateway!!
Weezer: Good goin' kiddo! Your Ma's gotta love you for that! Now me, I used to hunt mice in the yard and bring them INTO the house. Made Ma crazy! I don't do it any more, but she still has this great no-kill trap called a Tin Cat she used to catch them and put them back outside. Tell your Ma to look into that.

Weezer, I am so fearsome that we hardly ever get mouses in the house. This one was either real brave or real dumb. Either way, he doesn't need to worry about it any more. My meowmy said that she felt bad for the little thing, but she was glad it wouldn't be pooping in the drawers any more.

I was looking for more mouses today, but they all ran away. My meowmy had to play with me and show me the schmousies my Auntie Fiffer sent me. Thank you, Auntie Fiffur. I love those schmousies!

They may not squeak and swirm like the real thing but they are still good for practicing on, aren't they?

Gateway is on restriction. He ATE a hummie! He just jumped in the air and caught it. I felt so bad, but there was nothing I could do. The poor thing was dead by the time I got there.

Re: more Gateway adventures
That's an astounding feat! Sorry, I've lived with Weezer too long not to acknowledge that. But believe me, I'm not about to to tell her about it and give her ideas. I'm shocked and appalled, yet completely in awe of Gateway's powers. I trust you will NOT convey my stunned admiration to Gateway. He might take it as encouragement, which it most certainly is not. Poor hummer. Go with God, little one.

I can't believe he actually caught a hummie! They are so fast and can change direction on a dime..... Poor lil hummie, I hope it was fast so it didn't feel pain. I am in awe that Gateway actually caught one, but appalled that he killed and ate it. I'm glad he's grounded for the summer.

Re: more Gateway adventures
Well, Gateway, I guess we're jail buddies. You're in detention and I'm in protective custody. I get what our Ma's are doing, but I don't like it much. So you ate a bird. We're cats! We eat birds! We also hunt, and hoo, Gateway, that was one fine move to pick a hummer out the air! Well done! If we ever share a cell, I'll tell you some of my hunting stories. My Ma has NO idea.
Right now Ma has the door open a little bit to let the air in, cuz she hates the "canned" AC air. Humph. She'll let wet, hot air into the house but won't let me outside to breathe it properly. And you! What do they think is in that food they feed us, celery?
Humans are nuts. Hang in there, brother.

Oh! Sister Weez! Prison is no fun. I was crying today even though it is HOT here. My meowmy won't let me outside because she says it's too hot. Then she says it's because I ate a bird. Ugh. She doesn't know why, but she's being a meanie. Our canned air upstairs is broken, so she opened the windows. That just makes it worse. I can SEE and SMELL the outside, but I can't go there. I think we should plan an escape.

*side mouth* Okay, Bugsy, we're breakin' outta here. All we gotta do is is sharpen up one a' dose cat toys from Auntie Fif inta a shiv to cut da screen. I been tryin, doe, and dey don't sharpen up too good. Too mooshy. We'll havta tink'a sumfin else.
*wrests the keyboard away from Weezer* Now, none of that, you two! Y'all behave yourselves! I'm sorry, you guys, I really am, but when your Mama's say you can't go outside it's for a really good reason. Gates, if you're giving your meowmy as much static as Weez is giving me, I can only say that a Warden's life is no picnic, either.

Really mi amigos, the cool of your hacienda is so much better than the outside. It's hot and
miserable, no fun. Stay in the cool of your hacienda's and have your staff cater to you. Tonio

Re: more Gateway adventures
Today there are big booms in the sky, so prison isn't too bad. GK is out there and he won't come inside. Meowmy says he's a silly one. She will get him when she goes to do the horse bedtime check. Why does she give me a PILL at bedtime. Can't she give me FOOD like she does for them? Tonio, how do you get your staff to treat you good. I know this is kitty abuse.

Re: more Gateway adventures
I hate big booms. I find my safe place when they start. Meowmy had other kitties, so she
was well trained when I came to her. So far I haven't had to take pills but I've had to go to
the V*T. Meowmy says you should have a treat for taking your pills. She all kitties should have
bed time snacks. Tonio
