A shrew! A shrew! Gesundheit! LOL! I know the Werewolves of Berwyn has some regional humor in it, because Berwyn is a working class suburb that is known for its Bohemian roots and its yearly parade in honor of mushrooms, but Sven always tickles me!

Wasn't sure which Berwyn has the parade. I saw there is a Berwyn near Philadelphia, but it turns out the berwyn with the parade is in IL. funny because there is a town near Philadelphia called Kennett Square that has a Mushroom Festival every year. I beleive that this area is the biggest commercial mushroom producing area in the country.
I went to the festival one year and it was alot of fun, even went on a tour of a mushtroom farm which was very interesting

lk sven is in Illinois so that's the Berwyn he's talking about. its a big inside joke with sven;)

Yes, Svengoolie hosts horror movies, which are sometimes wonderfully kitschy, and sometimes are classics (and sometimes, like in this video clip from "My Father was a Werewolf" just plain awful). He has bits of trivia about the movie and the actors in some of the commercial breaks, and also has a mail segment for fan mail, and last, but certainly not least, every week, he does a parody song like this based on the featured film. He's been doing this for 31 years in the Chicago area, and we love him.

I vaguely remember Svengoolie from my childhood, but we haven't been able to get a channel with him on it for decades here.

I've heard that the Rockford area doesn't get MeTV, which is odd, because it recently went national, and people from all over the country now get Svengoolie!

i think metv is still only sort of sprinkled around,. i don't know anywhere in NJ that gets it. if i was the person paying the cable bill i'd write the cable co and ask them to carry it. sven is like the cool version of Sir Graves Ghastly, the horror host dude i spent most of my years in MI watching.

i've seen zacherly when they've showed old stuff on i believe it was channel 10 here. he was just NJ or NJ/NY i think. Elvira was west coast that went national for a while (the woman who does her is a great animal advocate;)....also a Groundling alum who worked with (and i have a feeling dated) Paul Reubens;) )...did Dr D ever go a tv show? i used to listen to him on the radio...i miss his show. i believe its still on somewhere and you can go to his website. (hmm..another reason to clean of the table and see if the new speakers work!)
but Sir Graves (like Woodrow the Woodsman and Johnny Ginger) was just a MI thing....coming out of Detroit.Poor Sir Graves was always getting preempted for freakin Detroit sports...ick!

Elvira is also on our local UToo station, in a syndicated show, so we have two hosted horror shows in Chicago right now. I heard she rekindled the character after going through a divorce and needing money. I also heard that she may not do another season. Maybe those money troubles are over. She still looks fantastic, by the way.

We still get Elvira, IF you have no cable and rely on an antenna and digital converter box. And if you happen to be up at 4am on Sunday mornings. She hasn't been on in over a decade here, so I was surprised when I couldn't sleep a couple weeks ago and looked to see what was on.....

oh man if i had weekends off i'd be staying up and catching that show!
one thing about Elvira the character....there's enough makeup that she can age well;) (as long she stays slim all her 'attributes' can be fixed;)...actually her cleavage is a lot of highlights and shading;)

I know, she's had that job as Elvira for decades! Who else can say they've had their job that long?
