Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
did anybody's critters get anything special for dinner? i got the Rescue Kitties Wiskas little trays of turkey and giblets that stuff is kinda hard when it comes out of the tray so i cut it into smaller chunks for them and put it on saucers. the licked and licked and wound up knocking the food onto the floor and leaving it there! found it when i was on my way out the door for work last night....scooped it back onto the saucers and had hands that smelled like cat food when i walked onto the job!
i need to cook the pumpkin pie (frozen) i bought the other day. was gonna do it on Weds but my head wasn't in the right place (and i'm getting discustingly lazy when it comes to putting stuff in that little oven!).

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
I don't feed my 2 oldies "special treats" on special occasions (they don't know the difference and it upsets their tummies) but I do make a point of reminding myself and them how grateful I am to have them in my life. Extra snuggles and attention! (hey, we need a doggie emoticon here!)
Jeane, cook your pumpkin pie when you're relaxed and can enjoy it!

Antonio got lots of extra snuggles. I'm glad you mentioned the Whiskas, I forgot to open the ones
I bought for the for the Wild Bunch.

The kitties got the turkey heart and liver that I had boiled up for stock. They said no thanks to the gizzard. The ponies got carrots and apples in a nice warm mash.

Thought I would bring this up. Went and bought the Bird for the group.
A 20 pound behemoth. One year I was told we were only having about 10
people and I bought the approperate(sp) size bird and we had double that amount.
Never again said I.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Lesson well learned! Better to have too much than too little. Nothing like turkey hash the next day!
Thanks for bringing this topic up for 2012, Sue! (Though I don't know what you're doing lugging 20 pound turkeys around when you can barely get off the sofa. Get back in bed, woman! You're sick! )

Neither do I and I'm paying the price . At least I got one of the members to
drive, I don't trust myself to drive and Jeff was kind enough to tote everything in.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
That was nice of him. I hope you aren't too sick to enjoy the feast, you don't have to cook it too do you?
And much better to have too much than not enough. You can always make hash, soup, sandwiches, or freeze the leftovers for later on when you aren't all turkeyed out.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm going to buy some fresh veggies and stuff for Thursday, already have the turkey, cranberries, pumpkin, and splenda......just need a few fill in things for my diabetic-friendly oh-so healthy for you dinner.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
We found a small turkey, and we plan on the typical dinner for a couple of days, and then we'll have hot turkey sands for as long as the turkey lasts. We aren't creative, but we know what we like.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Sounds good to me, too. I think I like turkey sammiches (with lots of mayo and cranberry sauce AND stuffing) better than the traditional meal!

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
I think this year instead of mayo I'm going to use a blue cheese spread and
cranberry chutney.

A revolting emoticon, but you forced me to use it, Sue. That sounds marvelous! I hope these foodie thoughts mean you're feeling a bit better.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
I'm going to invest in some this weekend. Along with some cheap socks. I imagine
you have to trash the socks. I can't keep taking this stuff forever and I can always take
a shower to get rid of the odor.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Very true.
My mom has relented in my no-crust pie, she's no longer insisting on a crust since I won't eat it and the crust from my slice would go to waste. Still getting loads of criticism on my diet.
Will be cooking and baking this afternoon so the cranberry sauce and pie will be ready. Mom has squash and sweet potatoes, the turkey gets roasted at my place tomorrow. At least I won't have to carry it all over in one day....the pie and sauce goes over tonight.
