I got a new foster kitten on Valentine's Day. Since he wouldn't be ready to adopt until the March petfairs, we decided on Patrick for his name. (The folks who saved him had called him "Tinker Belle" because they thought he was a she. I think everyone is happier with Patrick, though,) Here's a link to his Petfinder page: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22331127

Patrick is a perfect name! Not only for St. Paddy's Day, but I believe our own Patrick (of Mutts fame Wink ) was born on the 17th as well. We'll take that, and Kitty Patrick's dear little crooked (comical?) ear as a good omen, shall we? cat

Suzzz, that is so cool. My brother's birthday is also the 17th. He spent years
trying to convince my that the parade in New York was in honor of him. lol!

Did y'all know that the 17th is also the feast day of St. Gertrude of
Nivelles. She is the patroness of cats and I think herbalists.

Patrick spent the day in the bathroom since Bernardo was at the fair. I've just moved him back into his large crate, and he was in a hurry to get back in there. Too much stimulation in the bathroom, I guess. Bernie has been spending time out in the rest of the house, so I'll be putting Patrick into the bathroom for some time each day. He should move around a little!

The 2 kittens are starting to get along, and Patrick is taming down nicely, so soon they both should be able to share the bathroom/hallway area.

I had to chuckle here. It's really interesting to watch Antonio and the Wild
Bunch. They see and smell each other through the back door but the second any
of them come face to face well. I'm glad I'm there to make sure things stay calm.

yep 'our'patrick's bd is St Pat's day;) (anybody else remember when we got the pages together and mags made up the little book for his 50th? and she gave it to him at NYCC:) )
you don't have to live on the street go have a messed up ear....Carter had a notch taken out of his ear by the nasty ol Miss Puff upstairs years ago.

Patrick has such a sweet face. I'm sure someone out there will give him a nice quiet loving home when he's ready for it.

I bet our Patrick still has that book too.

Patrick the kitty had his booster shot this morning. I think he's tame enough that we can move him into the bathroom with Bernie. It will be nice to be able to move around in the hallway--no more cage! That's assuming all is well with the new housing arrangements.

Post by gbste Mon Mar 05, 2012 2:29 pm

On Friday, both kitties got along just fine while supervised. I left them alone for about an hour, and when I checked on them, Bernie had two scratch marks on his nose, so I went ahead and put Patrick back into his cage for the rest of the day. Saturday and Sunday they spent several hours together without incident, and Sunday they actually curled up together for a nap. Patrick is still a little difficult to pick up at first, so during times we need to leave the bathroom door open, he needs to be in his cage, but he's coming along and they should both be able to live in the bathroom/hallway area soon.

That's good. Cat can be so adaptable. Some more so than others, still it sounds like he
is coming along nicely.

Sorry to hear about the nose scratch, but cats need to work some things out between them and there's only so much we humans can do on that score. Sounds like they DID work it out if they eventually napped together. I'm so glad!
