did the donuts need yeast? if they did maybe the yeast was dead and that's why it didn't rise Sad
homemade donuts sound pretty good to me! (we used to make them when i was a kid with refridgerated biscuit dough and cut holes in the middle and fry 'em!)

We used to make those too when I was a kid Jeane! They never lasted long enough to cool off.

Bev is ordering in pizza, guess she didn't like last weeks and is trying another pizza place hoping for better.

Working on emptying out the freezer. It is in dire need of defrosting. Tonight it will be salmon. I think I'll make a summer squash casserole and scrounge out whatever other vegetable I can find.

I'm close to the end of using up the identifyable things in the freezer. We are getting close to "Supper Surprise"!

Sounds like you'll be making some interesting meals now Susan. My mom has a comic on her fridge, the caption reads "I don't know what's for supper, I haven't named it yet." LOL

I haven't a clue what's for supper tonight............

hot dogs in the broiler of the toaster oven. the hot dogs (good Oscar Mayer)are actually cheaper than a $1 tv dinner.

How about mac n cheese? Cut a couple hot dogs up into slices and add them to it. Mom used to make that sometimes when I was a kid.

Fish pan baked with a lil butter.

The figs on the gargantuan bush in the back yard are starting to ripen. Anyone have any good fig recipes? We are going to be beyond covered up with them shortly.

Tonight I'm going to do a chicken, lemon and fig dish I saw on the allrecipes.com site. I it sounds rather Mediterranean. I'll let you know if it is any good.

Either it's pizza or tacos........mom's menu. Pizza if she doesn't feel like cooking, tacos if she does. She invited me over so I don't have to cook either way.

Tonight we'll probably have chef's salads, with lettuce and tomatoes from our back yard garden. Since it's so hot, I'll have to keep going out and pouring water on the lettuce so it doesn't wilt, though.

I had a coupon from one of the stores that was for $3.00
off produce with $10.00 purchase, so let's see I found a steak
for half price that will make two meals. Having grilled acorn squash
steak and avocado. To make it even better I had a coupon for $2.00
off my entire grocery order.

Jeane, I like AB's meatloaf - it has some zippiness to it. I also turn up the spice a little, in addition to what he specifies. When I do make it, the recipe will feed us for more than one dinner. Last night was the frozen half of what I had made up a couple of weeks ago - BONUS! For Dinner Tonight? - Page 2 Icon_biggrin

I mentioned this in the original forum, but my eldest stepson is an ardent Alton Brown fan. One of the interests we share is cooking, so when either of us tries an AB recipe or technique, we'll report our results to the other.

in some forum or group i've been in in the past 10 yrs there was a person who either had a relative or had themselves met AB. he is one of the few people i would actually like to meet and talk to. he used to work behind the scenes in TV so we'd have stuff to chat about:)

is the recipe on the foodnetwork website or do you have the cookbook?

not even going to say what i had for dinner. i'm really started to feel this crap in my body and will have to go back to tv dinners soon. (but these 30cent or less dinners are saving me some money!)

I make my meatloaf in the microwave. Comes out nice and moist, takes only about 20 minutes total to cook it, and doesn't heat up the place either.
