Re: Bingo found a home
I've claimed one of Mom's old robes. She had it on the floor to throw away because it has a hole in it. I like it and am sleeping on it. Mom said I can keep it especially since it is so cold. I have to wear a doggie blanket outside. It's embarrassing. I'm glad other doggies don't see me to laugh at me with it on.

If you simply must sniff, remember to sniff at noses....not rears. And sleeping on mommys' stuff is always nice....it smells like her and I find that a great comfort, especially when she's gone somewhere....Bij

Re: Bingo found a home
I was kind of rotten today. I got ahold of one of the kitties' toys and chewed it up. It was just the stick the toy is on, not the toy part, but Mom said that isn't good. I need more chewy toys and maybe a stuffy toy too. Mommy said it is ok, and we went for a nice walk. I will try not to chew things up tomorrow.

Now that's no way to win over the kitties to be your friend. Please try to chew on stuff that's okay, like chewies or your own toys, okay?

Mom says I need more toys. Maybe I won't be so attracted to cat litter that way.

Re: Bingo found a home
BAD DOG! He lifted his leg and peed on my bedroom door right as I was getting into bed. He had been walked and did all of his business about 20 minutes before. He got reprimanded and taken BACK outside in the mud and cold for another walk to the pee tree.
I cleaned up and let him go to his pillow with no bedtime snacks, even though I know that he doesn't associate the lack of treats with his behavior. I think the reprimand, "BAD DOG" did the trick. He looked very ashamed. Maybe he was marking because that's where we sleep. We are HIS people now. He also might be leaving a friendly pee for the kitties who hide out in there, but I don't think they'll understand if that's what he did.

I'll never fully understand dogs and why they'll occasionally do something like that. Sometimes I think they get lazy, sometimes I think it's something deeper than that...

Re: Bingo found a home
Better last night. He did ask to go out at 12:15 AM, but that's better than peeing in the house. I hope he's a good boy today. I've given him a stuffed animal and a Kong bone, so he should have some entertainment. He did all his business before we left for work. I'm not sure what else I can do. I think I will buy some puppy pads to put in the "I had to go" spot. He's picked the same spot every time he's had an accident.

Re: Bingo found a home
That's a good idea Becky. I still keep two pee pads for my two dogs around the house for emergencies, since we both work full-time and those two little bladders have a long time to wait! They don't use them often, but in this cold weather, when they don't stay out as long each outing, they do sometimes use them during the day. I'm good with that!
Re: Bingo found a home
Very good news from the vet. Bingo was supposed to get his first heart worm treatment today. The vet wanted to do a second check just to make sure he really has them before we began the big treatment. His results were a VERY weak positive. This means that he gets to just continue his preventive treatment (which he would do every month no matter what) and go back in 6 months for a recheck. The vet didn't want to go full blast with treatment because it's pretty heavy duty stuff. The preventive should be able to take care of what he has. If his results are stronger in 6 months, we'll do the big treatment. If they are negative or still very weak positive, we'll just stay with what we're doing. He's healthy and happy.
Now, we need to work on shedding 5 doggie pounds! He has the all clear for walking and playing.

Good news indeed. Maybe playing with Mouski will get his weight down a bit? Nice long walks work too.

Re: Bingo found a home
I have a tired dog. He went off leash all afternoon while I cleaned stalls and did yard chores. He never left the yard. Most of the time he just stayed in the barn with me, but he did vacuum any horse pellets and kept running up and down the aisle. Occasionally, he'd go out and just look around. He also left to use the potty. Good dog! Every time he went out of sight, I'd call and he'd come back. So, a big day for Bingo. He's now CRASHED near the wood stove, which I should get going soon since our warm day is getting colder.

He did. But, he also got up for his late night potty break, which he gets when I do bed check on the horses.
Today marks two days with no litter box snoodles. Maybe I've found the right combination of toys and chewies.

Re: Bingo found a home
Bingo had a bad dog day. He growled at Kilmouski and he also peed in the house right in front of me. He got told he was a bad dog and sent outside to think about what he did. He came in 10 minutes later, and looked SO sorry. Now, he's crashed in front of the wood stove.

Bingo is in love with the little Auntie Fiffur pink stuffed mouse. He is curled up with it under his back feet now. If it was huge, he'd hug it.

At first I was afraid he'd choke on it, but he just likes to toss it around and hug on it.

Re: Bingo found a home
I have a feeling if a mouse found it's way inside again Gateway would have competition in who catches it first. My aunt had a sheltie who excelled at catching mice. Maybe Bingo is like her and is practicing?

Re: Bingo found a home
Maybe. I haven't seen him in hunt mode. He's been sniffing around the fences as if he is looking for deer. I guess our local herd is visiting, and since he's a former deer hunter dog, he's very interested. Fortunately, he knows the "Leave it!" command. Such a good dog.

For a hunting dog that is the most important command of all.
