I plan to. Just haven't bought seeds yet. I'm thinking of putting in an herb pot near the kitchen door. I miss having thyme and rosemary at arm's reach all the time.

Wesley doesn't want to put in anything this year... I don't know if I can handle that.

Thyme does well in a pot. I don't know about rosemary

Oh no! No garden? I can't imagine no fresh veg. BC, you should just plant some stuff. It can't hurt, right?
I had a huge rosemary plant that didn't make it through the winter. I've seen it in pots before, but you have to get a type that doesn't get tree sized.

You kidding me Becky, your rosemary died. ESH the one here would survive a nuclear winter.

Re: garden attempts 2014
I've had a number of things that didn't fare well through the last winter, but the one that hurts the most is a Redbud tree that I absolutely LOVED. It has beautiful heart-shaped leaves, dark bark and the loveliest pink blossoms at about this time of year. Mine is still alive - but barely.
I think I will have to pick up a little tomato plant when his back is turned - I don't think I could live without one all summer long!
I've had trouble with rosemary surviving in these cold temps too. I've never been able to keep one.

Re: garden attempts 2014
Maybe he'll believe that tomato plant you're getting on the sly just 'happened'.......if he'll believe one fell to the ground unnoticed last year and this came from the seeds? We actually had that happen one year: didn't plant any but had a couple plants show up anyway. Best tomatoes I've ever had.
Catnip here is off to a slow start, and the patch near my sis' garage didn't fare very well because of this past winter. Thank heavens we have a small patch near the shed too.

A miracle for which I'm sure Antonio and the Rodent Patrol is grateful for.

The Rodent Patrol can't get near it, it's in a hanging basket.

Re: garden attempts 2014
I think it was the subzero temps that did in the rosemary. We hardly EVER get as cold as we did this past year. We get volunteer tomatoes almost every year. Hopefully, the awful winter didn't do those in too.
The irises are finally in full bloom. I hope I can get pix tomorrow.
The deer are eating the kohlrabi. Boo! Hopefully, it'll survive.

Beautiful, the tulips and the irises came and went so fast this year I didn't get any snaps.

Lovely picture.....we don't have any irises in bloom here yet. They're going to be very late this year.

Re: garden attempts 2014
Picked up a Sweet 100 cherry tomato and one regular size too. Wesley realized that we would miss fresh-picked tomatoes.
Re: garden attempts 2014
And that would be tragic! Will you be able to grow winter tomatoes in AZ?

I should think she could as long as they're watered and maybe shaded a bit if the sun gets a bit too intense.

Re: garden attempts 2014
All seeds are in for summer veggies and herbs.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, with basil, bean and patty pan squash seeds in.
Lettuce, kohlrabi, bok choi, radishes, with snow pea seeds and cauliflower just starting.
And the guard dog
