Re: Crisis...anyone?
Definitely crossed.....it took them a week to acknowledge my first email. Probably take them at least that long to check things out and get back to me.
Maybe my initial email will also clue them in that their automated phone system needs some reprogramming: they change your caseworker a lot (if you have one) without telling you, but they expect you to somehow know who it is to even access them by phone, or make an appointment to see them. Would be much easier if they had you put in YOUR name, instead of an unknown caseworkers'.

While this is not a crisis and on the whole I wouldn't even rate as even a minor annoyance but have y'all been following this soap opera between CBS and Time Warner. Talk about not only poor customer service but poor customer relations.

Just saw your blog, I'd laugh except it really is a pain the tush. Wash everything with white vinegar and baking soda. Unscented detergent if you have it.

We just now tried the tomato juice bath, and even took a photo of him, but it looks absolutely horrifying, so I don't want to post it. The throws and dog beds are in the washer right now.Sue Short wrote:

Re: Crisis...anyone?
Just got an email-- finally!-- in response to their request for more info: it seems the state is NOT going to give me the benefits it owes me. They apparently feel (from the tone of the short email they sent) that since they finally coughed up some for Aug I don't need any past benefits. I just wish for once they'd have to do without groceries for a month and then see how hard it is to restock a pantry! If it wasn't for my pantry being stocked in the first place I'd have gone hungry a lot more than I did that month. Bastards!

Tell me about it! They just don't give a damn about poor people in this state, I swear. Talk about creative bookkeeping, this state is trying to raise it to an art form.
I fired off another email to them today telling them they OWE me those benefits. If not for my pantry being stocked then I would've gone hungry a lot more the past two months. But now it needs restocked and it took me 6 months to do that before. But prices have gone up since then so no idea how long it will take to restock it now. And I hear they're going to cut everyone IN HALF starting in January....so that money can go for medical coverage for the state. How nice is that? I can use the medical I'll be getting to help with the effects of starvation.

Re: Crisis...anyone?
My current crisis today: getting unemployment for the 2 weeks I was laid off for winter break. U.E. closed my claim because I earned over my benefit rate BEFORE I was laid off. How crazy is that?
I swear they make it convoluted so you can't get any money. How on earth am I supposed to pay for gas to look for work, pay for phone calls, or pay my rent so I'm not homeless (Lord knows, nobody hires the homeless here)? Can't get past the busy signal on the phone, emails are not returned, can't drive to the local office (25 miles away in a nest of one way streets and construction).

Re: Crisis...anyone?
I am so upset. Wesley has tickets to go see a house in AZ this Saturday, and this morning we got a text from the realtor that said they accepted an offer. Now we're trying to figure out what to do. We really thought this house would be the one...
Re: Crisis...anyone?
I don't blame you for being upset. I would be too. Maybe a better house is in the offing for you? You know, a door is closed but somebody opens a window......

I hope you just "bump into" the perfect house. Is Wesley's ticket refundable at least?

Re: Crisis...anyone?
Nope. We got a reasonably priced, non refundable ticket. He's decided to go anyway and look at some new construction for the day. Better than sitting home and simply losing the money.
Re: Crisis...anyone?
That's a good idea. How did it go?

And to add insult to injury, I don't have any hot water in my bathroom.

Re: Crisis...anyone?
OhNo, what happened? Pipes freeze up again?
I have to let the water run for at least 5 minutes these days to get hot water, then the pressure drops. I think our water pipes underground are starting to freeze up. The weatherman told us how to check for that: test the first 5 minutes worth of cold water out of the tap. Above 50 it's fine, below that and the pipes underground are starting to freeze up and might burst.

I'm happy to report that I had hot water to take a shower
today. For that I'm grateful.

Hallelujah! A nice hot shower is something we take for granted...until we can't take one. Good way to thaw out if you get chilled to the bone.

Re: Crisis...anyone?
As I remarked in another thread my Saturday sucked. Starting with the community service
people who were committed to come in did no shows and the ones who showed up were almost worthless. I am going to refer to Psalm 118, about put a lock on my lips because if
God had not done so there would have been a meltdown and it would not have been mine. So now I have dined and wined or is whined. Life is looking much better.

No matter what, we love you and Tonio is there to be worthwhile.

I appreciate that Becky and there is nothing like a little wine and Tonio snuggles
to make it all worthwhile.
