He's doing really well. The shots and itch pills are working wonders. He has some tough days with sneezes, but there's something flying around. Even I'm sneezing, and I don't have allergies.

Re: Bingo found a home
I took him for a walk to the neighbor's house today because they are out of town and need their cats fed. Not sure why, but Bingo was a little lumpy on his front right paw. I checked the pads and didn't see anything, and he seemed to walk out of it after a while. I wonder if he stepped on something and it worked its way out, but was still painful. I haven't seen any more limping, and he was running around the yard at supper time.

It's always worrisome when they go lame and you can't find the cause. Glad whatever it was sorted itself out.

No more limps today and plenty of silly running when I pulled into the driveway after work. I think he must have stepped on something.

Bingo had a great adventure day today in Colonial Williamsburg. His photos are here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/q5YE4Nh1pkMfujzL9
He is a pretty good photographer.

Re: Bingo found a home
Poor dog has a runny nose again. He isn't acting sick, and the icky mucus looks different. This has a little blood in it. I am hoping it's not a polyp or tumor, but it could be. I need to make him an appointment early next week. He was supposed to go for his regular checkup on Friday, but I don't want to wait. It's very icky for me to clean up, so I'd rather figure it out and start treatment.

I agree, some of this stuff can get out of control quickly. Hopefully it's just something minor. Poor pup.

He goes early Tuesday morning. He is very energetic and is not acting sick at all. My horse vet thinks he might have a tooth problem. Since he's older, it is a definite possibility. The new vet has all kinds of equipment the old vet did not, so I am sure he will get a good once over.

I hope it's not a serious dental problem. Maybe he just needs a good cleaning.

No conclusions yet. They did x-rays of his head, and his right nostril is blocked. It doesn't look classically like a tumor, so they wonder if something is stuck in there. He has to go in for full dental x-rays and a nasal flush, and a possible rhinoscopy. We have 2 weeks of antibiotics to deal with symptoms. Thursday, we'll find out about the next appointments.

Re: Bingo found a home
No word from the vet yet. I will call Monday to see if I should set up an appointment with them or with a specialist. I'm hoping with them. But, if they think getting scoped is the thing to do, I will go to the specialist so he only has to go under once.

Re: Bingo found a home
The antibiotics are clearing up his nose, which makes me very happy. That little symptom is GROSS. If there is something stuck in there, the antibiotics are just treating the symptom and not the cause, so I'm sure he at least is going to get x-rays and a nasal flush. Hoping that's all. Scoping sounds kind of icky. The vet said that they really do that if they suspect a tumor, so I am REALLY hoping we can just stick to the non-specialist side.
Thank you for the thoughts and purrs!

I hope it's something simple. I mean who on earth could he have gotten something stuck up his nose. On second thought Never Mind!!!!

That is true. Someone once told me a loose hound is a dead hound because of that trait.

I suspect a piece of hay or grass. He sniffs around the stalls trying to find dropped grain.

He eats grain? How strange?

Re: Bingo found a home
I'm pretty sure he was very hungry at some point in his past. He eats a lot of strange things. Hunt kennels keep the dogs thin to inspire them to hunt. Then, since he wasn't a good hunter, who knows... He might have been left to fend for himself. This time of year in this part of Virginia is a very sad time for deer hounds.
