MUTTS MOVIE
I was watching Comic Con coverage on the G4 channel....and the scroll at the bottom said a movie based on the comic strip Mutts is in development from 20th Cenury Fox.
YEAH!
I looked up info on it and it will be written by Patrick McDonnell and his brother Robert.

Re: MUTTS MOVIE
Thanks for the link, Zack! It says:
The animation division at 20th Century Fox hired MUTTS creator Patrick McDonnell and his brother Robert McDonnell to adapt his acclaimed comic strip into an animated feature film.
Sounds like a done deal to me. They've been hired. Whether the project ever makes it to the big screen is, of course, another matter. But it's a start! It also says Patrick will be executive producer. I hope that means he'll have control of the storyline and look of the thing. I don't think I could bear seeing our guys turned into some ridiculous transformer ninja crap (or something) parody of themselves.

Oh yesh! I got the news on my RSS feed from Mutts Musings. I need to bookmark the page so I can see when it's released. I guess it will be a while since there's SO much work that goes into an animated movie. Excited!

Re: MUTTS MOVIE
i wonder if they'll ship it out of the US to get drawn or keep it here...or if it will be digital. either way it could be years to get if on film and dubbed etc. the Pixar films take over 5 yrs.
i'm amazed they didn't do a tv special first....those take a while but they're only about 18-20 minutes long!

OhMy, I sure hope it doesn't take 5 years for this to get on the screen! And that I can afford to get the souvenirs associated with the movie for my Mutts collection when they come out.

I hope it will be hand drawn...but it will most likely be digital.

Re: MUTTS MOVIE
it would be beautiful if they hired a group of american artists to hand draw the film;)
fiff...even if its digital and they've already started it could still take years and years before the film was on the big screen....i'm hoping we learn more on Thurs in the chat.
it takes a LOT of people to make even those tv cartoons like the SImpsons...just watch the credit roll at the end! plus all the voice talent who have to come in and dub everything.
as much as i'd love to see a lot of merchandise with the Mutts folks in the stores...but it seems that if its not a Disney film or a super hero film not many toys come out for a movie. maybe collectables for speciality stores though....like stuff from the NightMare Before Christmas? who knows.
i know a big dream of mine would be that i'd still be living...and living here on the East coast ....and that they'd have a premiere here AND that MoCCA would do a special event for it. but i'm really getting ahead of myself!

Re: MUTTS MOVIE
i posted that question on my fb page but nobody bit! i'm thinking Steve Buscemi for Mooch...though maybe he's not peppy enough and he'd do a better Earl. I know he needs to be a voice of Mutts somewhere! actually, i can even hear Oliver Platt and Stanley Tucci as Mooch and Earl (the first time i really saw Oliver was in Beethoven and he reminded me a big shaggy dog) in the same movie i saw Tucci as a Jack Russell. i could hear either one of them as either MOoch or Earl!
hmm....who would Guard Dog be? has to be someone who sounds gruff but really is a big mush.

If I have the right last name, I can see Jack Nickolson being Guard Dog.
