Thanks everybody! I had a very quiet birthday, no cards, no gifts, didn't go out to eat, my sis didn't even acknowledge or remember it. But I knew you would!

Mom made chowmein from scratch for dinner, and Bij of course tried to help me eat it. He loves those lil chowmein crunchy noodles so he was disappointed I didn't have any. But mom did.

I'm glad you had a nice dinner with Mom & Bij!

It was the most subdued birthday I've ever had. I just wish Bij had snuggled with me more.

I'm so sorry I didn't check the birthdays today!!!  I've been seeing that your birthday was coming up over the last couple of days and then today I missed it.  Anyway - I hope you had a nice one, Fif!  

  Belated Birthday Wishes! 

It was a good one despite having to work. My coworker Renee invited me at the last minute to have lunch......I've never had a coworker ever take me to lunch for any reason much less my birthday. Nice steak too, I saved the molten chocolate cake for later (it was still good even cold!). Bij gave me snuggles and kisses, and I got over 60# of pears for free too. 33% have nothing wrong with them, 33% have a small hole or cut where the stem of the pear in the bag next to them poked it, and the rest have obvious bad spots or bruises. Those I'll deal with first.....I have a LOT of canning to do this next week. I guess those pears were my surprise birthday present....the pantry was throwing them away rather than give them out and telling folks there were a few bad ones. I bet at least half the folks at the pantry would've taken them given the choice. Oh well, their loss my gain.

Glad you birthday was a good one. The lunch sounded wonderful.
I'm still stunned about the pears though.

Everyone I've told is shocked they threw those pears out. I'd love to tell whoever donated them that they made fantastic jam and sauce. I still have pears to can! Spent 8 hours Sunday canning, did another 4 pints yesterday.......and now have the 1/3 that had nothing wrong with them to use up yet.
The caramel pear jam is to die for! I can hardly wait to be done with pears so I can make some caramel apple jam.

Thanks, I went out for lunch with mom, then snuggled with my Bij as much as I could. Got 2 birthday cards from 2 people in my building. One present, a cute little round Christmas ornament with a black cat face on it. Reminds me of Bij.

Nothing from my sis, who isn't speaking to either of us since Sept. over the inheritance. Not my fault grandpa left me a teeny bit more than her. I'm spending it on vet bills for Bij right now.
