Re: what cha readin??
I have seen the movie version. I figured the book was set in a different era before I got the book.

Re: what cha readin??
Read the latest John Grisham this weekend. Pretty standard Grisham fare, but of course that means quite entertaining. I wouldn't pay money for it, but for an easy weekend's read from the library I highly recommend it.

Re: what cha readin??
I'm now reading High Country bride by Linda lael Miller, which is the first in the MCKettrick series. I sort of read them backwards, but just found this one at the bottom of the pile. It's another book discarded Duane reade with the cover off. As long as I don't try to sell it I don't think I'm breaking any laws.

Re: what cha readin??
went to the library yesterday to get the tax booklet and came home with three books from the sale shelf (one of the Warrior cat books, a Joel Gray and a Koontz...a pretty old Koontz...he doesn't even look like himself on the back cover...i need to research that. if its the same dude he got hair plugs, lost weight and gawd just looks a lot better now)and took out the latest coffee house mystery. I need to finish up this stupid boring drawn out dog mystery and read that!

I picked up Monk in Trouble from the Library garbage bags. I guess I'll read it next. Does anyone want it when I'm finished with it. I know there are a few Monkophiles here.

Re: what cha readin??
I had several books on hold at the library and 3 of them have come in at once. Sue Grafton's newest (she's the "A is for _____" mystery writer -- this one is V is for Vengeance), the latest Robert Barnard (I love his mysteries) and Stepen King's 11/22/63 which is HUGE. I'm suddenly faced with that delightful dilemma -- too many good books, so little time!

Re: what cha readin??
Just renewed the book I'm reading that is set in WWII Ireland. I'm going to start the newest Clive Cussler
novel, I had that on order and it's in. I've gotten tired of the other book, so I'll read the Cussler right now.

Re: what cha readin??
lk if fiff has already read it i'd love to read the monk book. they only have two at the library here. but if someone else wants itno prob.
i found out i wasn't crazy...Dean Koontz had a hair transplant years ago cuz he hated looking like G Gordon Liddy (and he DID! he DID look like G Gordon Liddy!) i tell ya the new hair took about 20 yrs off him and made him look for much friendlier. I don't think i would have picked up a book with his old look on the cover cuz i'd figure it would be stuffy and too much like an old man's mystery!

Re: what cha readin??
I've read and enjoyed them all--courtesy of the library interloan system. I hope you like it Jeane. It was a good one.
I can't believe a library threw that book away. I wouldn't mind rereading that one again...unless Jeane wants to keep it reread later herself.

I finished the wester and started reading the Monk book, which is also a western.... sorta as it takes place in todays time and in the past. I'm only 10 pages in but it looks good.
Jeane, I'll save it for you when I'm finished

Re: what cha readin??
I finished Monk in Trouble and have started a romance called Serendipity by Fern Michaels,
I thought it was a contemporary (well contemporary for 1994 when it was written, but it aCTUALLY TAKES PLACE IN 1953. , and it's not a bodice ripper type, no big sex scenes or anything. I'm not sure about the characters, they are complex enough so that sometimes you like them and sometimes you don't

Re: what cha readin??
thee book I'm reading set in 1953 has some interesting things. I like reading about things like Ipana toothpaste, John's bargain Stores etc, and chains on cars instead of snow tires.

Re: what cha readin??
oh there are still places where you can and do use chains on your tires in the winter! i bet they still do it in the UP and places like North Dakota and Minnesota.
i went to the library today to get some more tax forms (my is beat up because it was raining when i brought it home and it got wet)and wound up walking out with 5 books for $1 and a "scottish mystery' book..don' tknow what its about but its got a black cat on the cover and so far i've only gotten one bad book that's had one of those;)

well, I remember all those things from my childhood. We used to love Johns bargain Stores. and we used to use chains, and I remember Bucky beaver from Ipana
the heroine in the book resuced 4 little puppies who were going to be put down. If she doesn't have any other saving graces there is that I admire about her.

i finished Mortal Roast a few days ago (one of the Cloe Coyle coffee house mysteries...they're always fun and interesting and not too sloggy) and started one called Scotched. its set in maine and involves a lady who owns a little store that sells just Scottish stuff....so far is fine so we';ll see how it goes. its the 4th or 5th book by this author and i haven';t read any of her other stuff.

reading an old romance called The Heat is On by Sarah Holland. It's quick and slim by today's book standards so I should finish it quickly

Re: what cha readin??
the above is a boring book but even just reading it on the way to work, I've managed over 40 pages a day. Should be finished by tomorrow . Hope the next book is a little more interesting.

Re: what cha readin??
i'm a bit more than half way through Scotched. I went to the library yesterday to return the other book i had and loked to see if there were more books from this series there bu this was it. (I really didn't need another library book..i have a ton of other books i need to read!)i just wanted to see what they had. I swear i've read other stuff by this person. I THINK this is the author at one of the Whovians on FB talked about...that the woman who writes them is a WHovian and has named a lot of her charactes after Who characters or the people who play them. So far i've picked up on at least three or four of them!

Reading one of the Beatrix Potter Cottage Tales. This one is called the Tale of
Castle Cottage. The usual slow start but they always pick up.

the animals and the people all have equal time but on different levels. They both
have different views of the events that happen in the book.
