Man against Medicine - moved to here!
Hi gang - I decided to move my "discussions" to this section rather than on the "Samantha" section - this is about human concerns not furry concerns, so it probably belongs down here rather than "Tell Us About Your Furkids".
Anyway, to all who have been following along before, the latest in the prostate cancer, mysterious growth, etc - I went to the surgeon yesterday - all I can say is "AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! Saw doc, looked at my MRI films, thought what I had was very interesting, couldn't make a judgment yet, needed an ultrasound. S--T Place for ultrasound was on my way home - stopped in to see when I could get an appointment - HAD ONE AVAILABLE IN LESS THAN AN HOUR!! Completed ultrasound, they will send results to the surgeon in about 2 or 3 days - will WAIT until surgeon looks things over.
Man, our country supposedly has the best care in the world - but it takes FOREVER to get an answer.
In any event - if I forget to wish every one a Happy Thanksgiving - HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
Missing the furkids, Jim

Hi Jim! I agree, it does seem to take forever to get a definitive answer on what's wrong with you. The docs can't seem to make up their minds. The frustration in waiting can be so horrible. Still, glad you got in for the ultrasound so quickly, it usually takes months here to get one.
I also hope you have a good Thanksgiving, I know you'll miss the furkids a lot. Nobody staring at you while you eat, nobody asking for a nibble of what's on your plate, nobody purring for you or sitting next to you while you nap off your dinner. I know exactly how that feels. Amazing how big a hole a little furkid leaves in your life when they're gone.....................

Re: Man against Medicine - moved to here!
jim i'm glad you were able to take things into your own hands as far as getting the ultra sound done. i really don't understand why people are jerked around so much to get results.
the folks upstairs go to someplace where there are several doctors together and i believe there are different testing things in the same buildling so things can get done quicker. just makes sense to get things done asap and get to the surgery or whatever.
you're in my prayers and i keep the candle lit for ya...here's hoping that doctor gets his act together and your treatment starts soon.

Hope everything is well, Jim
When my company's plan was HIP it was easier to get appointments because everything was done at the same place.
now I've got to run here for lab tests and there for mris and another place for a specialist.

My mom has experienced something along the same lines with her doctors about her arthritis and it has been very annoying. At least you didn't have to wait long for the ultra sound.

Re: Man against Medicine - moved to here!
I hate to wait. I mean, I REALLY hate to wait. And waiting for med results is one of the worst kinds of waiting because of the hand-wringing factor. Trying to zen out and be philosophical, recognizing you're not the only patient and all that, doesn't help much. But, buddy, you really scored stopping into the ultrasound place. Good instincts! You probably shaved weeks off your diagnosis time. Well done!
Jim, back in philosophical mode, I challenge you: Every morning when you get up, think of one thing that you're grateful for. Just one, that's all I ask. It might not help much, but it then again it might.

Re: Man against Medicine - moved to here!
Hi gang,
Sue Short's posting on my "Samantha" topic above, reminded me that it's been awhile since I've given everyone the latest updates on my medical issues. After waiting for almost two weeks for info on the ultrasound on what my friend calls my "butt bump" - (not the prostate cancer, the other unknown growth) - I called the surgeon and asked what's happening. As a result of that conversation, my next step is a biopsy guided by a "radiation specialist" - my guess is that it will be an ulttrasound guided biopsy - at the local hospital. Now I'm waiting for the appointment nurse to let me know when I can come in. Thanksgiving is past, Christmas is coming - I bet I'll still be waiting for the results by New Years!!!
Keep strong, and love your furkids! Jim

Jim - Is the other radiation treatment on hold until the mysterious "BB" question is solved? Yeepers! This hurry-up-and-wait routine has to be nerve-wracking. Be persistent, my friend. And remember that we are staunchly in your rooting section!

Yea, Susan A - the whole radiation thing is on hold until they find and solve the butt bump. And it's two different doctors. And even my cancer doc is getting restless

It's all over the place, JB...all over...
PS - Jim, it was just pointed out to me that my signature (where Earl forgot his pants) gave one of our members a bit of a chuckle, since I was responding to your BB post.
Re: Man against Medicine - moved to here!
oh geez, here's hoping Jim doesn't have to take on earl's fashion statement!
man...having to wait for long to even know what's wrong....maybe its a good thing i won't go to the doctor!

Re: Man against Medicine - moved to here!
Hey - Hi guys - well I was waiting until I received some REAL news, but.... I had a biopsy on the butt bump on Friday. Of course, nobody want to say squat - the answer has to come from the doctor who requested the biopsy, and it would take about 3 or 4 days to send him the report - so SOMETIME in the next few days, another "small step for man, a giant leap....." - well, you know!
Thanks for asking, everyone!
Jim

Re: Man against Medicine - moved to here!
Just keeping you all posted - WHICH IS MUCH MORE THAN THEY'RE DOING FOR ME!!!!!!! - sorry, I was getting hot under my collar, or some such. Try this on for size - biopsy last Friday, hospital says about 3 days to feed report to doctor - Monday I call surgeons office just to check, am I supposed to make an appointment or will they call me? They will call, if I don't hear by Friday, check back - Friday, no call - I call surgeons office - he's NOT in - office staff doesn't know anything about biopsy - they will check with hospital to see if they can find anything out - Now you know why I call this "Man against medicine". Hey, if I don't drop a note next week, have a Merry and Blessed Christmas for all of you and your furkids!

I am so sorry about your runaround, Jim. Believe me, I know your frustration, not that that lessens your burden any... Keep on staying tough with them - don't let up. One hand seldom seems to know what the other is doing, and I guess that's true wherever you live. Keeping good thoughts for you.
Happy Holidays to you and yours too!
