I think the schmice are coming in trying to find someplace cooler than outside Jeane. Probably why you've had one 'visit' recently.

It's been very hot and humid lately here, more so than usual for July. June went down as the wettest one we've had here on record. Our showers lately have been very scattered, just enough to humid things up but not enough for the plants or to cool things off. We haven't taken Bijoux outside for a walk since the hot weather started. He asks sometimes but we say no, it's too hot for him and for us. When he went for his walker ride Saturday night it was very humid outside. He got a small taste of it through the screens on the patio and didn't want to linger long to see me off.

Little snugglebug all weekend for both mom and me. Also been hogging the remote and phone (by laying on them so nobody can use them). Little guy not only greeted me enthusiastically at the door every single time I came in, but also asked for walker rides several times a day. Loads of kisses and purrs too. Guess all those nights at Brads made Bijoux miss me a bit. He doesn't let a chance to snuggle go by with me now, it's like he's making up for lost time. Even mom noticed, he's been snuggling with her a lot too when he gets the chance.
Haven't seen his lil stuffed duck for a while, I think it's under the stove. But a catnip hamster I made for him has been all over the place lately........

I wonder if he noticed the noise of the fireworks going off last night.

I just can't live with those things either...........the Ewwwww factor is too high. Thank heavens the lady who moved in upstairs last year who brought them into the building (first one in over 20 years to have them) didn't spread them to the other apartments.

Bijoux was not only at the door ready to bowl me over with an enthusiastic greeting, but was practically glued to my lap for the next two hours. Very Happy Then mom woke up.............and I lost my kitty for a long while. I even begged for a lapkitty as I wasn't done snuggling yet only to have my pleas fall on deaf ears. Finally Bijoux relented and came back to snuggle some more with me while I read. When it was almost his dinnertime I got a withering look............he looked positively pathetic. It worked--he got his dinner. Nice thankyou cuddle with a couple burps, a short thankyou snuggle with mom (I guess because she pays for the food?) and off to the walker to ask for a ride. Sooooo, got a nice escort out of the building along with a nitenite kiss from my favorite boy.

That's good, usually one apartment has them, the rest
have them.

Don't you just love the escort.

Isn't that the truth? We lived in an apartment that had them because of one family who got kicked out. They left, but their vermin stayed. It was awful.

My mom's building has a bugman come in every two months to spray for everything, yet in the six months that woman lived there they never saw them. But when they went to renovate the apartment for rerental and tore up the carpet..................they supersprayed the entire place to get rid of them and gutted that apartment too. Haven't seen any since thank God.

Bijoux has been a major Cuddlecat! Mom has been battling a migraine, I've been battling the heat and my monthly "gift", and he seems to know we both need extra cuddles to feel better. Mom said he was glued to her all night long, and he splits his time between me and her when I'm there. Nice cuddles, kisses, purrs, greetings at the door, short but sweet Wetfood Revue Shows, thankyou cuddles and kisses (complete with burps), then a walker ride to escort me out of the building. And he looks all over while on that walker ride, checking out the progress of the new lighting fixtures in the hallways.

Yes, I love the personal kitty escort.

That happened at the last complex I lived in. The woman who
lived underneath me, went off the rails and when social services
finally got involved she was living in filth and squaler.

where i was in TX they were all over the place until most of the people around me moved out and they took the roofing off to put new on. I've never been the same since i lived the first time in NJ though..i've woken up too many times with a roach almost in my ear, mouth or crawling up my leg.
BUT those are regular roaches. I know the ones Book was finding...THOSE are the big ol TX roaches. nearly as big as a madagascar hissing roach! (and sometimes those buggers can fly!)

My parents lived in Corpus Christi for a few years. I've met those roaches. They needed leashes. They were HUGE. The worst ones I ever saw were in Korea. There were all kinds. We lived in temporary military housing for about 4 months while we waited for a place to live. There were the small, light brown ones that were swarming all over the barracks. There were the big round black ones that came up the drains of the temporary house -- that was nice otherwise. Then, when we got the regular house, ther were the flat black ones that fly. I have real issues with roaches. Gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about them.

Tell me about it. You know this reminds me of something that happened
to my brother when he was in grad school at UT. The chemistry labs that he
worked in were below the biology labs and because of the animals that they
had in the labs, the chemistry department had bug problem. My brother came
in one night to find some ants carrying off the huge roach. Roach was still alive,
anyway the the ants carried up a wall over a window ledge and out side.
His adviser pur up a notice saying that they could kill all the roaches they wanted
they just couldn't piss off the ants.

(BC, I don't know if that words violates, if it does take it down and I will
make a donation of cat food to shelter for a fine)

Good ants! Just thinking about having roaches makes my skin literally crawl. I'm like Monk in that I want NO bugs living indoors with me. I'd have to burn everything to get rid of them. I know my mom said something about huge bugs when we lived in Florida for six months. Said one more bug and I'm outa here--she saw it and next thing I knew we were moving back up north.

Bijoux has been velcrocat for mom lately. Got a nice enough greeting when I came in, got a short cuddle, then he was off to bug mom to hold him, snuggle, etc. He just wouldn't leave her alone. I even begged, went after him, picked him up to cuddle, and he'd leave as soon as he could to go bug her to snuggle with him. I did get some attention when it was mealtime, and that's when my sister chose to show up with wigglebutt in tow. Mom and I visited a short while with her, holding Maggie, and when we got back to the apartment there was Bijoux right at the door, with this look on his face (And where did you go just now? You did not have permission to leave!). Gave both of us the 3rd degree sniff but he forgave me a lot faster than mom. The way he treated her you'd think she was a criminal or something. Asked for and got a walker ride to escort me out of the building. So hot and humid he had no desire to stay at the door to stay goodnight though. Couldn't blame him.

I couldn't live with them myself. Just can't get past the ick factor.

Bijoux was all over me again at the door to say hello. Been velcrocat again for mom all day long, he even moved over her phone, water bottle, and remote so he could lay snuggled right at her side on the couch. Had to be touching her. Bijoux gave me a nice enough hello snuggle, then off to bug mom again. I begged, I pleaded, I went after him and made him let me hold him, and still he wanted mom instead. 10 minutes before we were to leave for Brad's to watch the movie and guess who decided that was the perfect time to snuggle on my lap for a nap? I gave him 15 minutes, then had to leave. Got bowled over at the door as it was past his dinnertime, got a nice song n dance and leg rubbing while warming his dinner, and long thankyou cuddle and burp. I tried to get him to play some but his heart wasn't really into it much. He headed for the front door instead and jumped up on the walker. Guess he figured it was ride time to escort me out of the building. Took him for a long ride down the halls before I left for home between rain downpours.

Maybe the thunderstorms and pouring rain are why Bijoux's been a velcrocat for mom lately???

Sounds like Rachel wanted a lil den to hide in, and Contessa's crate was close enough to fit the bill. Bijoux has still been clingy cat for mom but not for me. I think he's a bit miffed with me because I've been furkid sitting for my sister, and hugging all three of them. Bij can smell them on me, gives me this funny look, then goes off to find mom. I've also been so tired from lack of sleep, I go home early to bed trying to get a good sized nap in before I wake up with hot flashes and can't sleep again. I hope Bijoux can forgive me hugging his cousins every day for the next few days. But they miss their mom so much they really need the hugs.

Bijoux greets me nice enough at the door, and wants a hello hug. He's also been asking for a lot of walker rides lately. I think he wants to be sure mom still loves him best. He's also been either on or glued to her side sleeping every night, keeping very close tabs on her. I get attention mostly when it's dinnertime, or when I scoop the pan. Then he sits on my back while I'm stooped over and keeps watch so nobody can sneak up behind me. Some nights I get nitenite kisses, some nites I don't. Maybe he'll be more back to normal when I'm done furkid sitting?

About the only time he really acts like the cat he is. And he can hold a grudge, but usually not for more than a couple days.

At the door looking for loving the moment I walked in, got the 3rd degree sniff, and I had to demand he let me love on him until he relented and forgave me my trespasses with other furkids. Got a cuddlekitty for a lil while until mom laid down, then I lost him. But we both left early to go visit sis's furkids and my nephew, and this time mom took Maggie for her walk while I cleaned food/water bowls and scooped litter. Took Maggie with me into the computer room and shut the door so kitties could have their wetfood in peace. Didn't seem to bother Maggie any, we played musical toys. Talked with my nephew a while then left. Bijoux was right at the apartment door waiting for us when we got back, sniffed us both other, and asked for his dinner. At least we both got thank you cuddles afterwards, he declined a ride on the walker down the halls.

Mom reports Bijoux is a velcrocat for her overnight, all night long.

Not so much a guard cat but an ambassador who keeps a close eye on his family. He doesn't prevent people or other furkids from approaching us, but definitely wants to be in the middle of any social interaction.

Bijoux is definitely miffed at me. He refuses to sit in my lap, let me carry him around, play with me, you name it. The only time I'm deemed worthy of his attention is if I had food or treats, when they're gone so is he. Sad I've tried to explain to him this is only temporary, that he's top furkid in my life, but he won't listen. At least he's not doing the same to mom. I miss having my lil buddy loving up on me despite the fact I get plenty of lovin' attention from my sis's three. Annabelle has been very very vocal and needy, she misses her mom and didn't want us to leave last night or this morning. Moxie seeks me out for attention too and she's usually a bit standoffish to everyone (I had her purring this morning for me), Maggie just loves everyone and is all over us. Mom is teaching her a few new tricks. Only took 3 days to teach her sit, stay, then come a few minutes later with our permission without my mom saying a word. VERY smart lil dog.

I know Bijoux isn't too happy about our being gone every evening for several prime-time kitty hours, but it's necessary right now. I'm hoping when our schedule gets back to normal so will he.
